As We Descend · published
Hey everyone, I wanted to give you some news on a few topics. As we head towards 1.0 (which is somewhere on the horizon), the major features that remain are controller support, the third origin, and the end game. This news post focuses on the first two topics, as those are our immediate two near-term goals. We'll also continue our monthly updates, where we make iteration on balance, UX, and other steady improvements so that As We Descend can be a complete package when we do fully launch.
We just released our 11th major update for Early Access. It features an overhaul on the Chemist, 7 new cards, additional new card art, many buffs to less powerful cards and tech, and a host of bug fixes.

Over the last few major updates, we've incrementally plugged in controller support for more and more of the game. With the exception of the City, much of the game will already be playable with controller alone in Update 11. That means we're on the cusp of full controller support; likely with Update 12! As soon as it's ready, we'll be putting it on our experimental branch and making it available for all of you to test. Keep an eye out for that news post!

We've experimented with various ideas for the Sacrosanct player origin internally. We tend not to share these publicly, since many mechanics may change radically before they're released or be cut entirely. My standard on this is quite high; each origin needs to play as asymmetric from the other origins as possible, and should cause you to evaluate the unit and card pool with a wholly different lens. If you look at the Votive and the Guild, their entire resource systems function in unique ways to each other. Sacrosanct is no exception, and will have unique behaviors for both its card-playing resource as well as the effect they get for using Runes.
Thematically, the Sacrosanct rounds out our factions as the soul of the City to the body (Votive) and mind (Guild). In the City, they serve as caretakers, elders, cooks, and priests. The Sacrosanct go a step beyond the regular devotion to AVA, and have embraced fatalistic fanaticism. AVA is not only the Machine God, as she is to all denizens of the the City, but also the holy mother in the Sacrosanct ideology.
Today, we have a few concept art teasers to show off some a Sacrosanct-exclusive unit as well as Sacrosanct variants of units you are already familiar with. These are just a small subset of all their units!

Take a shot, can you guess any of their names?
Sincerely,
Kevin and the team at Box Dragon
