SubwaySim 2 - Berlin Route DLC: U4 · published
A new version of the SubwaySim 2 Modding SDK is now available on GitHub!
With this update, we are improving the existing modding workflow and introducing new tools directly inside the Unreal Editor.
Important for Update 10: Since Update 10 requires the new version of the Modding SDK, you can now rebuild your existing mods with the updated SDK and use them again with Update 10.
The previous workflow using ''BuildMod.bat'' is no longer required.
Mods can now be built directly through the new Modding Tools window inside the Unreal Editor. There, you can configure the plugin name, optionally specify the level path, choose whether the NavMesh should be rebuilt, and start the complete build process.
With this update, we are also introducing the first experimental version of Basegame Asset Access.
After linking your SubwaySim 2 installation, the Unreal Editor can read content from the basegame .pak files and display it inside the Content Drawer.
With this feature, we want to give the modding community better insight into:
the asset and file paths used by the basegame
the structure of existing game content
references used throughout SubwaySim 2
the future use of existing basegame assets on custom maps
⚠️ Important: This feature is currently still experimental.
Opening or accessing certain content from the .pak files may currently cause the Unreal Editor to become unstable or crash. Not all assets are fully compatible with the Modding SDK yet.
We are making this feature available at an early stage to give the modding community a first look at where SubwaySim 2 modding is heading.
The Modding Wiki has also been expanded and now includes instructions for the new build workflow as well as the experimental access to basegame assets.
