New DLC + Free Major Update

Plan B: Terraform · published

Hello everyone!

It has been a long time, but we are now ready to announce some very big news for Plan B: Terraform!

On September 23rd, we will release the "Worlds of Fire and Water" DLC, featuring two new and challenging planets, along with a free major update that brings a lot of new mechanics and items to the game!

Here is a summary of the main features of both:

$5 Worlds of Fire and Water DLC:

  • Fire World, with constant volcano eruptions

    • Mineral-rich Basalt

    • Geysers and Condensators

  • Water World, with a few tiny island on a world covered in water

    • Polluted water and Filters

Free Update 1.1:

  • Tech Tree

  • Upgrades

  • Dynamic ice cap

  • Shade and mirror satellites, ice comets

  • Sea plants and plankton

  • Water Farm

  • Small Ship

  • Airship

  • GHG neutralisation factory

  • Drone Extractor

  • Floating Extractor

The Fire World is extremely hot, so you'll have to cool it down by neutralizing its greenhouse gases and launching shade satellites into orbit! But there are also constant lava eruptions, both deadly and beneficial, as the lava creates mineral-rich basalt patches when it cools down... The lava is completely simulated, so it's up to you to use the terraforming tools to try to control it and protect yourself!

There is also no water in sight, except for a few geysers. But you'll now be able to launch rockets to bring ice comets to your world...

The Water World is a planet almost entirely covered by water. Your main challenge is that you only have a few tiny islands on which to develop your civilization. But by cooling down the planet in a controlled manner, the ice caps will grow larger, causing the water level to decrease and giving you more dry land. You can also use dams and the terrain tool to create even more dry land.

On this planet, the water is polluted by minerals, but you'll be able to filter it to both recover the minerals and allow sea plants to grow. These plants will help plankton spread, which in turn will help produce more oxygen and terraform your planet!

In addition to these two new worlds, the free update brings a lot of changes:

  • Levels have been replaced by a tech tree, giving you more freedom to choose which technologies you want to unlock first. Cities are also more useful now: the more population you have, the faster you earn tech points. Upgrades have also been introduced to improve transportation: trucks, train wagons, and drones can carry 2 containers instead of 1 after being upgraded. The Fat Train upgrade even unlocks a new train with 4 containers per wagon! There are also some end-game endless upgrades.

  • The ice caps are now dynamic, with their thickness changing as you progress with your warming or cooling terraforming.

  • More tools to warm up or cool down the planet, including shade and mirror satellites, ice comets to bring more water to your planet, and greenhouse gas neutralization.

  • Oceans are now much more useful, with sea plants and plankton helping to produce oxygen, as well as sea farms that can produce food!

  • Several long-requested items have also been added, including smaller ships, large airships, very long-range drone extractors, and floating extractors.

The DLC will bring the new planets and their new challenges, but most of the new items and mechanics will be available for everyone for free, and can be used on the classic planet.

Warning: you'll be able to continue playing your old saved games, but we strongly recommend starting a new world, as major changes such as the dynamic ice caps and the new temperature balance (SF6 and NF3 are less efficient now that you can also launch mirror satellites into orbit!) will break a lot of things and require some heavy repairs.

But as usual, we'll create a dedicated Steam branch so you can continue enjoying the 1.0 version of the game for as long as you wish.To wishlist the game:
