Dev Diary #6 — Mission Type Showcase: Sabotage Facility

Welcome back, Guardians!

Today, we’re exploring one of the central elements of the Guardians Planetfall gameplay loop: Mission Types.

Throughout the war, Guardians will encounter many different missions across the galaxy. These objectives will form the foundation of your deployments, and today we’re showcasing one of them: Sabotage Facility.

Infiltrating a Void Outpost

This mission requires Guardians to infiltrate an enemy Void outpost and destroy critical infrastructure. In this example, the target is a Void Anti-Air Battery.

The facility is protected not only by enemy units, but also by static defenses. Mines, automated turrets, and enormous cannons may appear throughout the compound.

The number and strength of these defenses vary depending on the mission difficulty, so higher-level operations may require stronger weapons, better equipment, and careful coordination.

Disabling the Defenses

Once inside the facility, Guardians must call in a special Stratagem containing demolition charges and plant them on the Anti-Air Batteries.

However, calling support may not always be possible. Additional defenses—or even a nearby Jammer Tower—can prevent you from deploying Stratagems.

When this happens, you’ll need to infiltrate the facility, locate and deactivate the Jammer Tower, and then call in the demolition charges.

The Void Empire won’t remain idle while you work. Reinforcements may arrive, forcing you to plant the charges in the middle of an active firefight.

Escape Before Detonation

Once every charge has been planted, all that remains is to activate the delayed detonation and escape from the facility with a big bang.

Just don’t take too long. If you become delayed inside the compound, you may go down with the explosion… just like we did.

More Than the Main Objective

This showcase covers only a small part of what can happen during a mission.

While this clip focuses on completing the primary objective, Guardians can also explore the surrounding area, gather loot, complete secondary objectives, and discover more during a single deployment.

We have implemented a tier-based armor system that works in tandem with different Damage Types . These damage types have unique properties and bonuses against specific armor tiers. This allows each weapon and stratagem to have its own combat role, whether that’s penetra…Community26 Jul 2026Dev Diary #5 — VR InteractivityWelcome back, Guardians! This Dev Diary is a special one, focused on something core to VR: interactivity. Looking back at Frontline, we identified areas to improve, and many new opportunities to expand. Let’s start with physical interaction. One major step forward is your hands. We want as much natural interaction as possible: pressing buttons, pulling levers, opening doors, grabbing objects an…Community7 Jun 2026Dev Diary #4 — StratagemsWelcome back, Guardians! This Dev Diary will be a short and direct one, just like the stratagems you can call from your ship to support your missions! We currently have three types of stratagems: Offensive, Defensive, and Supply. Offensive Stratagems The Offensive Stratagems focus on pure destruction, huge damage dealers designed to eliminate even the most stubborn enemies, like the Orbital Las…
