Dev Diary #5 — VR Interactivity

Welcome back, Guardians! This Dev Diary is a special one, focused on something core to VR: interactivity.Looking back at Frontline, we identified areas to improve, and many new opportunities to expand. Let’s start with physical interaction. One major step forward is your hands. We want as much natural interaction as possible: pressing buttons, pulling levers, opening doors, grabbing objects and manipulating them directly.

These systems allow us to build deeper gameplay interactions. With the variety of mission types, we’ve introduced mechanics that require you to actively use your hands, sometimes even forcing you to let go of your weapon in meaningful moments. One feature we’re especially excited about is the wrist menu for stratagem selection. There are many more interactions as well, like carrying and inserting battery cells, but we’re saving some surprises.

Weapons are also evolving. Our goal is for each one to feel distinct with purpose, not just stronger. More advanced weapons come with more complex reloads and handling, adding depth through interaction.

We also want the world to feel more alive. You are a Guardian of the Federation, the weapon of humanity, but even weapons need support. That’s where NPCs come in, and yes… they interact with you too.

And lastly… This is a coop game, a bit of silliness will ensure good laughs

The next Dev Diary will focus on one operation: Sabotage Facility, so stay tuned for the next one. We hope you enjoyed this behind-the-scenes look. If you’d like to see more and help shape the future of the game, Join the Discord Community, make your voice heard, and wishlist the game!

Thanks for joining us as we build Guardians Planetfall together. 🚀
