Version Update 0.1.9 - Reforging Overhaul, New Items, quality of life and other

Mistaken · published

This update reworks the Blacksmith’s reforging system, adjusts the balance between Transcended and Whispering items, and introduces several quality-of-life improvements. It also adds six new items, improved ultrawide support, and a collection of smaller fixes and balancing changes.

Blacksmith and reforging changes

  • The Blacksmith’s reforging system has been reworked and no longer assigns completely random item quality.
  • Reforging now improves items through gradual quality increments.
  • The chance of a successful upgrade decreases as the item approaches higher quality levels.
  • Afflicted Reforging has been renamed to Whispering Reforging.
  • The maximum affix multiplier from Whispering Reforging has been reduced from 1.8x to 1.6x.
  • A perfectly rolled Whispering item can still surpass a Transcended item, but Whispering Reforging should no longer be the obvious choice over regular Blacksmith reforging.
  • The Transcended affix multiplier has been increased from 1.45x to 1.5x.
  • Rolling Transcended quality on an existing item now sets all of its affix values to exactly 1.5x their base values. Previously, the values were randomly rolled between Mastercraft and Transcended quality.
  • The default chance for naturally generated items to be Transcended has been increased from 1% to 2.5%.
  • Updated the Blacksmith’s dialogue so that he no longer incorrectly suggests that every item can be upgraded.

Inventory and quality-of-life improvements

  • Item stacks can now be split by holding the interact button for half a second while selecting a stack. The default input is left mouse button.
  • Added a dedicated Throw Item input that can be rebound from the settings menu.
  • The default keyboard input for throwing items is Q. Controller players can manually assign a button if desired.
  • Attacks already in progress are no longer interrupted when the cursor moves over a UI element. New attacks are still prevented while hovering over UI.
  • Mistake difficulty is no longer locked behind completing the game’s currently available content and can now be selected from the beginning.
  • Improved ultrawide support.

Sleeping and recovery

  • Returning home or sleeping now fully restores the player’s health. This also applies when using sleeping bags.
  • Sleeping bags can no longer be used while enemies are present within a sublevel.

Affliction balancing

  • Increased the difficulty of Afflicted enemies.
  • Adjusted the overall balance of Affliction-based item upgrades.

New items

  • Added six new items.
  • Lucky Arrow prevents ammunition from being consumed but reduces ranged damage.
  • Vein Arrow is an upgraded version of Lucky Arrow that removes its ranged damage penalty.
  • Bottle of Bitter Thirst provides extremely high mana regeneration at the cost of reduced damage.
  • Added three exceptionally rare gem-like accessories. These are created by combining the rare gemstones found throughout Mistaken.

Bug fixes

  • Fixed an issue that could cause the game to freeze when using a sleeping bag while the game was paused.
  • Fixed an issue where reaching 100 Whispers of Affliction after loading a save could kill the player despite using an Origin that grants immunity to Affliction.
