Hello, everyone welcome back to another VESSEL development update this one is smaller this week, while I work on the game in the background and don't have much to show without spoiling the games content. next week I'm locking in development for the demo, the demo will be as polished as i can make it, demos do not represent the final game and may change without notice. so expect changes and bug fixes to fix game-breaking bugs, and soft locks. and we are getting locked in to make the first teaser trailer, expect it sometime in September.
now onto this weeks small updates. that I can make public.
REFRESHED STUDIO LOGO:
Windworks Entertainment is my publisher and studio for all my games and other games in the future.
A refresh was needed to show that we value performance and quality. and we will continue trying to make games that are enjoyable.
BETTER PIXEL SHADING:
You may notice subtle changes in the shader system I programmed for the game's look and feel. I'm working on making it better, and more quirky for a game like this, and the resolution has been changed to 160x120 instead of 860x520. it may be subtle in the way it's programmed. but nonetheless it's an improvement.
ORBS NOW EMIT A HUM INSTEAD OF COLLECTION SOUNDS:
Collecting orbs before this update was a bit.... lets say annoying. who wants to hear a chime for each orb especially 60+? so I have removed collection sounds completely and have implemented a hum that gets louder the closer you are, a better sense of direction, the orbs will guide you. follow them.
That's all for this week. I hope I'll have more to show next week, getting this demo done is stressful and I will scrap and pull things from the demo build if necessary to make it possible to release. even if it's detrimental to early gameplay, the game will look heavily different compared to the final build, so please do not take the demo as a final representation of the game. I'm a solo developer making this game out of passion and my own small budget, I'm trying to make level 1 feel as cohesive and fun, though Level 1 is essentially a tutorial section so it won't be as fun as the other levels, use it to learn the games early mechanics, everything listed may not be in the demo build. but will be in the final game build early next year.
Thanks for the support and Don't forget to wishlist the game to help a fellow small indie developer.!
