Across the United States, Americans from every state and every walk of life are coming together to celebrate one of the most important milestones in our nation’s history: The 250th Anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.From small-town parades and tributes to military appreciation nights, concerts, fireworks, and ceremonies held by America’s military forces, our nation pauses today to remember the bold act that gave birth to the United States of America.On July 4, 1776, the Second Continental Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence, formally declaring that the American colonies were no longer subject to the British Crown. That document gave voice to words that would echo across the centuries: “All Men Are Created Equal,” and that all are endowed with unalienable rights, including “Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.”Today, as we commemorate 250 years of independence, we carry that promise forward with a fuller understanding that All Persons are Created Equal, and the blessings of liberty belong to every American.The men who signed the Declaration took an extraordinary risk. Their signatures were not symbolic gestures made from safety. They were public acts of defiance against the most powerful empire in the world. Had the American cause failed, those signatures would have sealed their fate once captured. They pledged their names, fortunes, reputations, and very lives to The Glorious Cause, knowing full well that defeat could mean imprisonment, ruin, or death.
The American Revolution came dangerously close to failure more than once. The cause survived because of perseverance, sacrifice, and leadership, especially the leadership of General George Washington and the endurance of the Continental soldiers, state troops, and militia who continued to fight when the future of America seemed uncertain.
Those men became the foundation of a military tradition that continues today through The US Military Active Duty services, The National Guard, The State Defense Forces, and the U.S. Military Reserves. Many Americans serving today carry forward a legacy that began in the fields, towns, rivers, roads, and frozen crossings of the American Revolution.For me, the 250th Anniversary has been an event I have been planning toward for nearly a year. It is one of the reasons I began developing The Glorious Cause. I wanted to build a game that would allow players to step into this struggle, command the armies of the Revolution, and experience the uncertainty, sacrifice, and determination that shaped the birth of the United States.Unfortunately, the game has not yet met my expectations for the experience I want you, our fans, our supporters, and all Americans to have.Because of that, we will release The Glorious Cause when I feel it is truly ready.We are bringing on additional staff to help us get the game to where it needs to be. Over the next few days, we will release a revised demo featuring new mechanics, new units, and a better gameplay experience. Once every major facet of the game meets the standard this Glorious Struggle demands of it, we will move forward with the full release.We apologize for the inconvenience and for the delay. But I cannot, in good conscience, ship a game that may crash, freeze, or fail to provide the challenging and meaningful experience this Glorious Cause deserves.
This project is about more than a release date. It is about honoring the story of America’s founding struggle and building a game worthy of the people who have gave their lives For The Birth of A New Republic.
