Update 2.40.0: Reactor Rework

This week's update makes a major overhaul to the functionality of reactors and cooling costs. The goal of the rework is to give some extra survivability to melee focused and simple ranged builds through a small cooling boost while reduce the survivability of heavily equipped ranged builds through a small cooling penalty.

A new reactor load stat has been added to most ranged weapons that reduces cooling rate. The baseline cooling of all reactors has been increased so simple builds come out ahead. The cooling impact of reactor load is multiplied by a reactor's load impact stat so low cooling reactors lose less cooling with increased reactor load and high cooling reactors lose more.

2.40.0

Major Features

  • Reworked reactors to have more variable stats, provide more cooling to simple builds and less to complex builds with tools to compensate.

    • Added the reactor load stat replacing cooling penalties on parts. Reactor load reduces cooling rate. The cooling impact of reactor load varies based on reactor with high cooling reactors having higher load impact and low cooling reactors having lower load impact.

    • Added the load impact stat to reactors. Load impact multiplies the cooling reduction applied by reactor load. High cooling reactors have higher load impact and low cooling reactors have lower load impact.

    • Added reactor load to ranged weapons. Side and back cannons generally apply 75 load. One handed ranged weapons generally apply 50 load. Two handed ranged weapons generally apply 100 load.

    • Added 200 cooling to all reactors to offset typical reactor loads.

    • Increased the cooling delay on the XJ series fast cooling reactors from 500 milliseconds to 700.

    • Decreased the cooling delay on the XS series high capacity reactors from 500 milliseconds to 400.

  • Added a simple photomode. Photomode can be toggled in singleplayer testing grounds or a mission after a keybind has been assigned in the settings. The game will pause in photomode. Currently, you'll need to use a tool like the Steam overlay to take a screenshot.

Minor Features

  • Added the SX01 and SX02 Sea Splitter, a T3 and T4 back cannon that fires penetrating shots. The T4 version is capable of penetrating twice.

  • Added scary black and white rooms to the sandbox rest area for taking clean screenshots of your Granvir.

  • Adjusted the tier 4 ammo efficiency baseline to be 20% higher than the tier 3 baselines instead of the same. This results in a 20% ammo efficiency increase for all tier 4 weapons.

  • Added penetrating shots to the SN01 and SN02 Belltower side cannons.

  • Adjusted penetrating projectiles to deal half direct hit damage on subsequent hits.

  • Adjusted penetrating projectiles to be capable of bypassing shields.

  • Reduced the ammo efficiency of Belltower cannons to match other side weapons of their tier.

  • All projectiles will now pass through and destroy light posts without stopping and it will not count as a penetration for penetrating weapons.

  • Adjusted all weaponized armatures with ranged weapons besides the GT02 Tsunami to use the pump animation, provide the empty hand speed boost and fire with a slight delay to match the functionality of the LC02G Stream. The Tsunami has not been adjusted since the pumping animation would make the missiles go straight into the ground.

  • Removed the max heat reduction from radar modules.

  • Increased the height of the tank crush zone so jumping on them more consistently destroys them.

  • Heat is now reset after completing or starting a mission.

  • Added a deployed slow stat to back weapons so you can see how much your speed is reduced while they are deployed.

Fixes

  • Fixed being able to navigate off the deploy confirmation popups on controller.

  • Fixed certain beam weapons not correctly saving and loading their control groups.

  • Fixed enemy Granvirs spawning inside pillars of ice near pipelines in the Glaciers region.
