Cubing Forge — Clearer Learning, Smoother Smart Cubes
This update brings new beginner tools, clearer guided turns, and improvements to smart-cube responsiveness and reliability. Several changes came directly from player
feedback—thank you for helping shape Cubing Forge!
Added
- 3D turn close-up: The Free Cubing Beginner Guide now shows the highlighted face, neighbouring faces, and a turn arrow from an angled viewpoint. Drag to inspect or
select Reset view to restore the suggested angle.
- Getting started tutorial: A four-page introduction covers the cube, controls, guided turns, and beginning your first solve.
- Controls shortcut: Access keyboard and controller help directly from Free Cubing.
- Scramble orientation setting: Choose White-Up or Yellow-Up, both Green-Front, for Free Cubing and Practice scramble instructions. Teaching and calibration retain their
stated holds.
Improved and fixed
- Restored smoother gyro movement while keeping grip detection immediate.
- Made quarter-turn and half-turn instructions clearer.
- Improved handling of rapid smart-cube turns and large bursts of recovered moves.
- Added missing-move recovery for GAN Gen3/Gen4 connections.
- Improved synchronization recovery so stalled tracking can resume after successful Sync Cube State.
- Expanded the confirmed internal-state reset workflow to GAN Gen2, Gen3, and Gen4.
Experimental support
- Added initial QiYi / X-Man connectivity for turns, battery information, and explicit state synchronization.
- Smart Cube M, Art Tiled, and Tornado AI still need individual hardware verification. QiYi gyro and internal reset are not enabled yet.
Windows, Linux, and ongoing development
- Updated both release builds with the new close-up and shared gyro smoothing.
- Updated the Linux Bluetooth plugin for QiYi connectivity.
- Expanded automated reliability and layout checks.
- Added internal tools for researching smart-cube slice/wide recognition; automatic gameplay recognition remains experimental.
Roux and broader smart-cube compatibility have been assessed for future expansion and are not included in this release.
