LIVORA has received a new round of improvements focused on Health, wellbeing, ageing and how these systems connect with the rest of your Life.
Health is no longer simply about whether your character is ill or healthy. It can now develop over time, affect the people around you and respond more naturally to the way your Life is unfolding.
Health can now involve much more than a single illness event.
Players can experience symptoms before a diagnosis, short-term illnesses and injuries, chronic and serious conditions, investigations and medical tests, diagnoses, treatment, medication, hospitalisation, rehabilitation, recovery, remission, long-term condition management and age-related Health changes.
Something may begin with a symptom, lead to an appointment, require further investigation and only then become a diagnosis.
Treatment is no longer always an instant resolution either. Age, existing Health, severity, lifestyle, treatment and recovery circumstances can all influence what happens next.
Health now has its own full area within LIVORA, bringing everything together in one place.
Overview gives you a clear picture of how you are doing and anything that currently needs attention.
My Health brings together your symptoms, conditions, medication and important Health history.
Wellbeing looks at how the circumstances of your Life are affecting you mentally.
Care covers appointments, investigations, treatment and follow-ups.
Lifestyle looks at sleep, activity, diet, stress and recovery, social connection and preventive care.
People You Care About gives you relevant Health information about close family members and other important people in your Life.
The Health area on the phone now works as a quicker summary and gateway into the deeper Health system.
LIVORA now has a much better understanding of where pressure is actually coming from.
Work pressure, financial problems, poor sleep, relationship difficulties, unemployment, caring responsibilities, loneliness, illness, bereavement and major Life events can all play a part.
It also recognises the things that can help you cope, including supportive relationships, friends, exercise, better sleep, stability, rest, therapy and other support.
Importantly, normal emotions remain separate from medical conditions.
Feeling sad, worried, stressed, lonely or grieving does not automatically mean your character has a mental-health disorder.
Longer-term problems such as anxiety, depression and burnout require more believable development and can involve treatment, support and recovery.
Lifestyle now has a longer-term influence on Health.
Sleep, activity, diet, stress and recovery, social connection and preventive care can all influence risk and resilience over time.
But these systems are deliberately not deterministic.
Living healthily does not make somebody immune from illness, and going through an unhealthy period does not mean disease is inevitable.
Age now plays a much larger role in Health.
As your character moves through Life, their Health can evolve naturally from childhood through adulthood and into old age.
Older characters may take longer to recover, become more vulnerable to certain illnesses, develop chronic conditions or gradually experience mobility, sensory or frailty-related changes.
But ageing does not automatically mean becoming ill.
Healthy ageing remains completely possible, and LIVORA still has no fixed death age.
Health is no longer limited to the player.
Partners, children, parents, siblings, adult children and grandchildren can now experience their own persistent Health journeys.
They may become ill, recover, undergo treatment, develop longer-term conditions or experience age-related changes.
Their Health can also affect your own Life through caring responsibilities, changed plans, work disruption, household pressure, financial consequences and emotional impact.
Healthy periods remain normal. Family members are not simply made ill to manufacture events.
Important recurring people outside your family can also experience believable Health changes. A friend might cancel plans because they are unwell, someone close could recover from surgery, or an older friend may begin experiencing Health difficulties.
You will only see medical information your character would realistically know.
Health now connects more naturally with LIVORA's existing ageing and mortality systems.
Serious illness, chronic-condition burden, frailty, hospitalisation, treatment, recovery, remission and declining Health can all contribute to longer-term outcomes.
There is still no visible lifespan meter, death probability or predetermined death age.
A serious diagnosis does not simply trigger a random death roll either. Serious illness normally develops through a wider medical journey before it can influence mortality.
When somebody important dies, they no longer simply disappear from the simulation.
Depending on who they were, their death can affect relationships, widowhood, family structure, household responsibilities, income, future plans, work, wellbeing, funerals or memorials, inheritance, estate consequences and your Life Archive.
Deceased people remain part of your character's history while no longer appearing in future messages, events or household contributions.
Grief can now develop as an ongoing part of Life.
Its impact can depend on how close you were, the quality of the relationship, whether you lived together, whether you cared for them, whether the death was expected and how much support you have around you.
Grief also remains distinct from depression.
A grieving character may struggle with sleep, energy, work or routine without automatically developing a mental-health condition.
All of this continues to work alongside LIVORA's Life Pace system.
Whether you are playing in Day, Week or Month Pace, the underlying simulation continues.
Health, money, relationships, careers, family, appointments, ageing, events and consequences still progress as part of the same Life.
Important Health or Life decisions can bring you back into the moment when your input genuinely matters, while routine progression can happen more quietly.
A lot of work behind the scenes has also gone into making sure this added depth does not come at the cost of LIVORA's performance.
The expanded systems have been designed around local-first gameplay, compatibility with existing and new saves, bounded Health histories, efficient family and NPC simulation, due/event-based Health processing, exact-once important changes, cloud and local recovery protection, Steam/Electron performance and long-running multi-generation Lives.
