LIVORA Update – Character Variety, Life Flow & Fixes

LIVORA · published · build 24951361

Another regular LIVORA update is now available.

This one brings together a mixture of new character variety, gameplay fixes and reliability improvements across several parts of the game.

More character variety

The character side of LIVORA has been expanded further, helping the people you meet throughout a Life feel less repetitive across relationships, family, social life, work and education.

I’ve also improved how relationship portraits are assigned. Generated partners now use a persistent person-based identity rather than repeatedly falling back to the same small set of portraits.

Once somebody becomes part of your Life, their identity and portrait should now remain consistent as that relationship develops.

Older Lives using outdated portrait references are handled automatically too.

Smoother Formative Years → Adult Life progression

More work has gone into the transition from Formative Years into Adult Life.

Old social events and other expired interactions should no longer suddenly become active when the player turns 18.

Past events remain part of your history, while genuinely active responsibilities remain available where appropriate.

This also prevents stale historical events from incorrectly becoming unfinished business or blocking End Day.

Work preparation fixes

Work preparation has had another reliability pass.

Prepared work sessions now recover correctly across repeated workdays, save/reload situations and fallback paths, while preventing the interface from becoming stuck in old preparing or saving states.

Smart Time Advance improvements

Smart Time Advance has also been tightened up.

Its preview, confirmation and recovery flow now handles retries, interrupted operations and dense Lives more reliably while continuing to process the underlying Life correctly.

Better relationship and family realism

Some situations could previously generate relationship or child-related content even when the player's current Life made that impossible.

Those checks now happen at the authoritative gameplay level, so content is generated from the player's actual current relationships and family state rather than simply being hidden afterwards.

Social events are cleaner

A duplicate social-event issue affecting Today and Calendar has been resolved.

Social events now use the same underlying event identity across the relevant parts of the game, and today's actionable social events take you directly to the correct place.

Completion, cancellation, postponement and reloading are all handled consistently.

Day Planner improvements

The Handle home admin Day Planner action now correctly applies the effects described to the player, including its energy, mental-load, risk and stability trade-offs.

Settings and presentation

There has also been some additional polish around the main menu and Settings.

Settings behaviour is now more consistent between the main menu and an active Life, including audio and display-related options, alongside further improvements to LIVORA's menu presentation and assets.

More reliability work behind the scenes

A lot of this update has also been about making sure changes in one system don't unexpectedly affect another.

There has been further work around:

  • existing save compatibility;

  • unfinished business and End Day;

  • Life history;

  • save and restore behaviour;

  • repeated actions and retries;

  • long-running Lives;

  • performance and concurrency.

As always, the aim is to keep LIVORA's increasingly connected systems reliable without reducing the depth of the simulation.

Thanks again to everyone playing, reporting issues and sending feedback. It continues to help shape where I focus the next round of improvements.

Thanks for playing LIVORA. ❤️
