Hey crew, it’s been a while!
Three years ago was the last progress report; precisely, all the way in March 6th, 2023. As we reorganize, we’re also happy to get back into gear as we keep you informed with regular updates. From features we’ve got cooking to highlighting the communities of Space Station 14, we’re excited to showcase recent developments and other cool stuff coming down the pipeline!
As it’s been some time since the last update, particularly as it relates to our own servers, Wizard’s Den. In this Progress Report, we’ll go over some key news as well as the full changelog! Let’s get started.
Wizard’s Den servers are back online and fully operational!
While we expected the transfer to a new provider to take some time and effort, our initial server provider took much longer than anticipated to allocate us hardware. On top of hosting the game itself, these servers also hosted critical infrastructure, like our website, the forums, authentication servers, and more.
Almost all services should be back online; we’re still in the process of bringing the wiki back up, so stick with us!
In the interim, one of our amazing infrastructure folks (hi Ress, thank you so much) has been hosting our game on an official-unofficial server, Raptor. As we’ve brought the infrastructure back up, we’ll be spinning that down and returning back to normal operations. As a quick refresher: Leviathan - NA East, Low Roleplay

We’d also like to give a shout-out to FireDefender for hosting some of the Salamander community in their offshoot MRP community, Salamalder!
We’ve got a major art overhaul on the way! We’re moving to a more consistent art style, with structures inspired by Space Station 13’s Shiptest fork. At the same time, we’ll also be providing more structured guidance for artists contributing to upstream, giving them clear standards and themes to follow! Our aim is to find the balance between improved visuals and making it easy for artists to adapt to the change.
This art style update will be done in batches; each update will have a set of new sprites to replace the old ones, as well as guidance to follow when spriting for each of the specific batches.

We’re also happy to announce we’re now managing the Space Station 14 Patreon! We’re really grateful for the support folks have shown us, especially in the more recent difficulties the community has faced, and we’re optimistic about the future of Space Station 14.
Your contributions make a difference when it comes to making sure critical infrastructure keeps running. As we’ve been making the switch to new hardware, we’ve unfortunately faced a significant increase in hosting costs. Despite this, rest assured, our resources are still going toward maintaining the critical infrastructure that makes the game run.
Making sure the game has a lasting future is something we take incredibly seriously; to that end, we’re currently in the process of forming a legal organization aimed at managing our resources, infrastructure and people involved. We’ll talk about that later on, when more is set in stone!
