Hi, all! I have a whole host of bug fixes in this update — primarily little things all over the game with no focus in particular, though it feels like there were a few big things since I made some major revisions behind-the-scenes in order to fix a lot of bugs at once. Most players have run into at least one of these, so the game on the whole should be a little clearer now.
Also, the Seattle Indies Expo is this weekend! Chaos Coin and my previous game Monster Jaunt were both featured there in the past, and several indie gems like Slay the Spire and Peglin appeared back before they launched; maybe you’ll find the next big thing!
Anyway, here’s a big ol’ list of changes:
Attack animation timing improved for most coins. Some have additional brief pauses between effects for clarity.
Stomp and Hail Pennies properly interact with other effects.
Skunk Spray and Aim Penny no longer boost all hits of a multi-hit attack (e.g. Spear S hitting the same lane twice).
Damage from Spikes/Thorns, pennies, and Delayed Hit are now “sourceless.” Effects like Impair or Spray which modify damage won’t affect them, but shields will.
This also prevents the damage from Spikes/Thorns from triggering back and forth more than once.
Hybrid coins (e.g. Hit + Cover) use both effects as a single coin, instead of appearing as one of the base coins and then the other.
Fixed preview icons on additional, optional movement prompts (e.g. Migrate GX).
Growth Penny now animates the HP increase on the target unit.
Renamed Step coins to Swap, with adjusted coin textures and descriptions.
Hurt animations no longer switch instantly with Idle animations when rapidly hitting the same unit repeatedly. (Snake won’t get their tongue stuck out now!)
Fixed some artifacts with the background blur effect when at High quality setting.
Penny description popup animates from the correct side for enemy pennies.
Outlines fixed for some characters and body parts that had them too thick/thin. (Look at Fox’s tail before and after, in particular!)
Several fixes to Anchor penny:
Crash Land and some other coins damage the correct lanes after Anchor Penny blocks movement.
A movement that doesn’t actually do anything won’t trigger Anchor now.
Fixed a minor break when defeating an enemy with Anchor right before their coin acts.
Prompts for choosing a lane will now be skipped if Anchor Penny would always activate and block all of the effects of the choice.
Compatibility with Gale.
Warp no longer erroneously activates on Trickster’s Cleanse effects.
Warp no longer erroneously activates on Migrate SX.
Blitz S/X can no longer choose to not move.
Enemy modifiers now stack properly and display the count on the map. (I.e. the HP boosts or enemy pennies from some events.)
Some text in fights has a slight outline now for better visibility.
When upgrading a coin, the reverse face is now shown as well.
Controller/keyboard input targets the correct directions when giving Snap input.
Fixed a bug with Elderwood town event showing the incorrect version when not encountering it during the tutorial.
Rewards will now always be offered in the correct quantity even if there are no valid upgrade options.
Adding a cursor to some coin descriptions in a fight to disambiguate what the current prompt is for.
Reordered and revised Challenge difficulty options (though you can only see the first four!).
Fixed a bug with the demo only unlocking 3 Challenge levels even when the 4th says it is unlockable.
Removed Snap navigation to temporary preview icons (mostly for movement effects that show the arrow icons).
Fixed an RNG bug with Warp Penny when Undoing or Retrying.
Added a button linking to the official Discord server.
Reduced the volume of sound effects when many coins flip at once.
Retry option now works on the first fight of a run.
Fixed Bat Echo to ignore other helper coins.
Event buttons now show tooltips for hybrid coins.
Various minor text changes in coin descriptions.
Tutorial prompts will no longer advance while the pause menu is visible.
Minor improvements to the town event tutorial.
DelayedHit icon is slightly brighter and now shows the amount of damage that will occur.
Caber and Cleave S damage reduced.
Pennies in the details screen now show the full descriptions of Cooldown and Cooldown (Fast), for reference.
Wow, that was a lot of things! Thanks for reading and for playing.
