v0.5 Out Now: Mounts, a Dungeon Tycoon Revamp and a Living Week

The biggest MMOS update yet is live, and it is the one heading to the free demo. v0.5 makes your world feel alive: your adventurers ride and fly across it, your dungeons run like theme-park attractions you can read at a glance, and your servers finally have a real week.

Mounts, ground and flying Stable vendors unlock in your cities and let adventurers buy ground mounts, with flying mounts as a further unlock. A full Mount editor lets you author bodies, flair colours, accessories and three sizes. Rare mounts also drop from bosses for your party to roll on. Adventurers collect one of every mount and ride their fastest, rarest prize, and flyers can cross open water.

Dungeon and Raid Revamp 2.0 Manage instances like a tycoon. Close them while you edit, send a staff-led test party in to run your work in progress, and read Fun, Challenge and Lethality at a glance. Six new wall themes (slate, sandstone, moss, obsidian, ice and bone) and a shelf of props including braziers, rugs, rubble, cobwebs and bones give every dungeon its own look.

Design your own mobs Mobs are no longer just a colour. The new Mob editor gives you a diorama and full cosmetic control over body shape, eyes, horns, ears, tails and size, right up to big slow bosses. Arm them with melee, ranged or magic auto-attacks and telegraphed abilities from the Ability editor.

A living week Your server now runs on a real week. Weekends and holiday seasons fill your servers, you choose the weekly reset day that drives dungeon and raid lockouts, and a cute week strip hops to the next day under the clock for that one-more-week pull.

Run your own events Click a date and run an event: a login-reward push, a seasonal festival or a marketing campaign. Give it a colour, a budget and a repeat rhythm, then watch logins and fun climb while it runs. The game scores it out of 100 afterwards. Bigger budgets pay off bigger, but a flop still costs you.

Live Auction House A full WoW-style Auction House window. Browse global or faction listings, then switch to a transactions tab that audits everything that actually sold over 7-day, 30-day and all-time periods. See what is really being bought, not just what is posted.

Also in v0.5

  • Need / Greed loot rolls with a proper roll ceremony for green-and-above gear.

  • Four new gear stats (armor, crit chance, heal power, move speed) plus a Gear Report that maps your item progression across every class.

  • Professions 2.0: adventurers pick synergising professions, can respec, and uptake is shown across your player base.

  • Class release control: classes and roles start unreleased, and you decide when they go live, set role unlock levels, and charge or waive respec fees.

  • Adventurers with personality: players stop to chat and hang out, forming friendships and grudges, and new traits like Insomniac, Parent and Nocturnal shape when each one plays.

  • A friendly in-game mascot talks you through the tutorial and greets you by name.

  • A new Stats panel with a daily concurrent-users graph, a Rimworld-style history feed, and RollerCoaster Tycoon style player thoughts.

  • Quality of life: rebindable controls in their own window, colour-vision text options, 45 degree placement rotation, per-spawner XP multipliers, Photo mode, a subscribed-only leaderboard filter, a searchable Players list, and a Report a Bug button.

Fixes and improvements

  • Damage text is anchored to the world again, so numbers no longer drift when you pan the camera.

  • Dungeon runners now fight mobs that aggro them instead of sprinting past to the boss.

  • Smarter AoE discipline, so adventurers stop biting off whole camps and getting themselves killed.

  • Crafters properly value consumables and buy vendor-only reagents, so previously skipped recipes get made.

  • Auction House deposits refund on a successful sale and vendor prices were rebalanced, so nobody lists at a loss.

  • Sounds respect distance now, so you will not hear loot rolls from a dungeon across the world.

  • Dungeon parties cap at 5 and raids at 6 to 30, and day-night no longer bleeds into dungeon interiors.

Thanks for playing MMOS. Jump into the free demo, build a server, and let me know what your adventurers get up to. Wishlist the full game on Steam to be there when the next update lands.
