Dreadwinter Devlog - June 2026

Welcome

Hey there, welcome to this month's Dreadwinter devlog!

This month was more content heavy, with additional furniture and decoration options, a new dungeon, and another seasonal event. Let's go over the highlights! ːsteamhappyː

Even More Café Customisation!

I've added furniture themes to Dreadwinter!

I mentioned this in the last devlog, but while you could change the flooring and wallpaper in the café, some of the permanent fixtures, such as the bar area, would stay the same, which caused some colour clashes, and didn't really look good.

Now, you can apply matching themes to the cafe, which will change the colour of the bar, as well as other parts of the cafe, like the kitchen.

When decorating the cafe, there is now a third tab in the painting section, where you can apply themes separately!

Themes are automatically acquired when you buy a wallpaper, though not all wallpapers will have their own theme.

The priority is to make themes for colour schemes that contrast heavily with Dreadwinter's original design, so I don't think every wallpaper will need a matching theme. This could change if needed, though!

Furniture Options

I've also been working on different types of furniture and decorations! Here's some of the stuff I'm quite proud of!

Who knew that a bunch of pixels could make you feel hungry

I've added decorations that you can place on the bar, and increased the amount of room you have to place them. You need to have space for your coffee brewers and grinders, though, so bear that in mind!

There's now also arcade machines you can buy and place in the café, or your apartment. Currently, they're purely decorative, but that could change in the future ːsteammockingː

These are available to buy at Blunder Muffin, not the furniture store!

It seemed more appropriate to sell them in a hobby store, rather than the furniture store, so now Blunder Muffin also sells furniture (It was just battle cards before).

Lovers Leap

If you happen to visit the Lower Town on a certain day, you'll notice that (almost) everything has turned pink!

Lovers Leap is a seasonal event that occurs during the rainy season, and as you might guess, is a romance focused event ːluvː

If you invite someone to jump into the lake with you, and you've reached a certain point in your relationship, the lake will respond with a grand display of your love!

If the lake doesn't respond, though... be prepared for a big fight.

As a result, you're only allowed to invite someone you're dating, or married to, so this might be something you only get to witness later in the game.

Fallen Moon Castle

The Fallen Moon Castle is the 3rd dungeon I've added to the game, and will be accessible after clearing Hollowither's Edge.

Legend has it that the castle is built from the rubble of a moon that once collided with the Earth, but it's been long abandoned, and is now a popular destination for adventurers, and the occasional tourist.

As you venture further into the castle, you may find that it's not as abandoned as you once thought...

Demo Update

The demo had an update earlier this month. It's mostly bugfixes, and some of what I've added has made it in as well. This will probably be the last demo update until the game releases, unless there's some really big issues that need to be fixed.

Closing Notes

That covers everything I wanted to talk about, it's been really hot in the last month, which has been quite rough for getting anything done ːsteamthumbsdownː, but development still continues!

Thanks for reading, and I'll see you in the next update!

-Alex
