Dear Earthling,

It's time for another Community Dash update!

Steam Summer Sale
The Steam Summer Sale has come to an end, during which Out Of Orbit was available at 50% off its regular price.

I’m very happy with the results! During the two week sale, the game sold 797 copies and generated $5,836 in gross revenue.

Another great sign is that the refund rate continues to decline. I believe the game is finally reaching the right audience, and it has become much more stable compared to earlier versions.

If you're curious about how much money I actually make from selling my game on Steam after fees, taxes and other deductions, I made a short YouTube video explaining it. Feel free to check it out here!

Massive Backend Update
To address the scaling, windowed mode, fullscreen, and mouse offset issues, I am currently upgrading the game to the latest version of the engine. These problems are engine related rather than game specific, and updating the engine resolves them. This is my current focus.

Since I am already making these engine changes, I decided it would be a good opportunity to perform a major backend update as well. One of the biggest changes will be to the save system.

Currently, the game only saves when you quit. This was originally designed to discourage save scumming. However, after receiving a lot of valuable feedback and constructive criticism from the community, I decided to prioritize convenience over preventing save scumming, especially while the game is still in Early Access and not yet as stable as it will be for the full 1.0 release.

The new save system will support multiple save states, including quick saves and manual save slots. This will allow players to return to earlier points in their play session, giving them more freedom to experiment with different choices and strategies without worrying about losing progress. Don't worry, the permadeath feature will still be there for hardcore players.

Unfortunately, this change means that older save files will no longer be compatible with the updated version. Because of this, I have decided to release these changes on the beta branch first. The current main branch will remain unchanged until the RPG III update, allowing players to continue using their existing save files.

In short:

  • Beta Branch: Latest engine update, including fixes for scaling, windowed mode, fullscreen behavior, mouse offset issues, and the new save system.

  • Main Branch: Continues to use the current version until the RPG III update, ensuring compatibility with existing save files.

I'll let you all know as soon as the beta branch is available again. Thank you for all your feedback and support, it has been incredibly helpful in shaping the game!

That’s all for now!
