Another batch of changes has arrived for Unshelved! Update 1.3.0 brings another round of bug fixes, quality-of-life improvements, and balance changes based on the feedback we've received from players exploring the Library.

We've been focusing on improving the overall flow of the game, making certain systems clearer, and addressing some of the smaller issues that can get in the way of the experience. We hope these changes help improve the overall Unshelved experience and make your time in the Library feel a little bit smoother.

A huge thank you to everyone who has continued to play, share feedback, and spotlight the game recently. Seeing people discover and enjoy Unshelved has been incredibly helpful and means a lot to us as we continue working on the game!

  • Added a mute button for the B.I.B.S. Terminal.

  • Added a new email to better indicate that books remain throughout the run.

  • Added a new email which notifies when a fuse has blown in the various breaker boxes around the Library.

  • Added a new hiding spot in one of the rooms in the Library.

  • Added a new item to the Staff Room.

  • Added a reminder message to the “Host Game” screen that the person with the best connection should host the game.

  • Added a “How to” indicator in the Book Order Station L.A.D. terminal to help with instructions.

  • Added an interaction to the Mail Storage to allow for easier storing of letters.

  • Added and removed some “Bookcase Door Passageway” locations.

  • Added more feedback to better indicate the times of the Library Opening and the Night Shift.

  • Added more variation to the percentages in the “Adhesive Strength” module.

  • Added multiple spawn points to stop everyone from starting every day inside each other.

  • Added the ability to toggle mute your microphone in game.

  • Added the names of genres to the Library Map computer screen.

  • Adjusted some of the descriptions in the item store.

  • Adjusted some of the error descriptions in the L.A.D Book Order Terminal.

  • Adjusted the Steam Valve module to have a more forgiving target range.

  • Adjusted the description in “B.I.B.S.” to better indicate that the requested book should be deposited into the nearby parcel.

  • Adjusted the location of some item and enemy spawn locations to account for changes in map layout.

  • Altered the feedback of the “Blotting Agent” module to better indicate how to solve it.

  • Altered the mesh on the storage drawers in the foyer to help make items more visible when looking into them.

  • Amended some emails that incorrectly showed the old credit denomination.

  • Changed the “Blotting Agent” module to choose from a set of predefined patterns to help decrease its difficulty.

  • Fixed a bug caused by rebinding the “Use” from LMB to any other key.

  • Fixed a bug causing an input lock if you were to die while hiding in a storage cupboard.

  • Fixed a bug that allowed sticky notes to be placed onto various items.

  • Fixed a bug which caused an input lock as well as items to become lost when dropping and using them at the same time.

  • Fixed a bug which caused items to remain in the inventory after a player dies in the Library.

  • Fixed a bug which occasionally caused the Repair Station to play its repair VFX indefinitely.

  • Fixed a loose interaction with the Checking Desk which could occasionally cause you to instantly approve or deny when entering the chair.

  • Fixed a typo on the fusebox.

  • Fixed the “Repair Terminal” not correctly updating for other players in the game.

  • Improved the feedback at the Book Order Station to better indicate when a fuse is dispensed.

  • Improved the interaction feedback for the puzzle elements in the Writing Perch.

  • Once again increased the network connection timeout threshold to improve stability for players with inconsistent connections.

  • Reduced sprint stamina cost by 20%.

  • Reduced the penalty score received after dying in the Library

  • Removed the chance of flickering from torches. We weren’t happy with its current implementation - which seems to provide more confusion/annoyance rather than increasing tension.

  • Reworked the “Glue Thickness” repair module to be easier to understand. Although “ratios” provided an interesting challenge, we felt the general consensus of people struggled with the concept.

  • The “Bookcase Door Passageways” can now randomly adjust each night.

  • Tweaked the book patterns on the Shelf Seeker to be closer in colour to the book patterns in the world.

  • Updated the Repair Terminal information to reflect the changes to various modules.
