As the release of Soul Maze in Early Access approaches, we wanted to take a moment to talk about how the project has evolved and our vision for the future.
Originally, we had envisioned several difficulty tiers. However, as development progressed, we realized that it made more sense to focus on a single tier for now, allowing us to create a more cohesive and polished experience rather than adding multiple levels without necessarily creating a meaningful enough change in the gameplay experience.
Looking ahead, we'd like to explore ideas that could genuinely bring something new to the experience, such as new biomes or AI for certain player configurations. These ideas were not planned for the Early Access launch and remain possibilities for the future. For now, our priority is to make Soul Maze as solid, fun, and enjoyable to play as possible, while continuing to improve it based on your feedback.
Soul Maze will launch with its core experience already in place: exploring the labyrinth, collecting Soul Fragments, working together as a team (including through the Strategist role) and facing the consequences of failed rounds, which can turn your allies into Dark Souls.
And we haven't stopped there! Since our latest playtests, we've continued to expand the game with:
Early Access will then allow us to continue improving the experience based on your feedback, particularly when it comes to balancing, the multiplayer experience, and the game's various systems.
Our priority will be to make Soul Maze as solid, enjoyable, and fun as possible with the content already in the game, before committing to new features or additional content.
There are two of us behind Soul Maze, and this project has taught us an incredible amount. Despite the changes and adjustments we've had to make along the way, we're proud of how far we've come and can't wait to finally let you experience the game.Thank you to everyone who has followed us, taken part in our playtests, watched our videos, shared our posts, or simply taken the time to show an interest in our project.
See you very soon in the labyrinth!
