Hello Souls!

This update brings major improvements to how Soul Maze feels and plays.

We’ve refined movement, enhanced feedback, added new content, and pushed the atmosphere further, all based on your playtest feedback.

Gameplay Improvements

  • Player movement overhaul

    • Added Coyote Time for more forgiving jumps

    • Implemented Jump Buffering for better responsiveness

    • Reworked Jump Apex Gravity for smoother and more controlled airtime

    • Added smoother acceleration and deceleration
      → Movement now feels more natural and less abrupt

    • Improved climb detection and responsiveness
      → Climbing now triggers more reliably and feels less rigid

  • Camera & Feedback improvements

    • Added camera lag for smoother and more immersive movement

    • Added camera shake on landing after high falls
      → Reinforces sense of weight and verticality

    • Added a hit bump effect when a Light Soul is hit
      → Improves impact feedback and makes shots feel more satisfying

    • Added a lantern trail effect

      → Improves readability and reinforces player identity during movement

These changes significantly improve the feel, responsiveness, and impact of gameplay.

New Content

  • Added new transition blocks for the "Judgement I" difficulty

  • Introduced a new challenge room featuring a Strategist-based mechanic

  • Strategist blocks are now accessible to Light Souls during the final round
    Ensures full map usability when no Strategist is present

We're continuing to deepen the cooperation between players and the Strategist role.

Visual Rework & Customization

  • Updated Light & Dark Souls skins to better blend with the environment

  • Added new outfit color variations for Light Souls

  • Added new eye skins for more visual identity between players

  • Reworked post-processing effects:

    • Characters are now more readable

    • Environment feels darker and more mystical

Bug Fixes & Optimization

  • Fixed Strategist portal not triggering

  • Fixed random issues where Dark Souls couldn't shoot or jump

  • Fixed network rollback issues in certain challenge rooms

  • Improved overall maze rendering performance
