Hi there!
We have lots of updates to share in this post: Demo v0.4.7 is now live, we're on the Choices Matter Festival by Telltale Games, and we'll be at gamescom in exactly 2 weeks! Let's delve right in.
This big demo update was timed especially for being proudly showcased in the "New & Updated Demos" section of the Choices Matter Festival hosted by Telltale!
This celebration of games with branching storylines and lots of player choice is taking place Aug 10-13th with 90+ discounted titles, 40+ playable demos and lots of livestreams and exclusive announcements, go check it out!
Here's what's new in this latest update of the Deep Fog Signals demo:
MAIN MENU:
Added VHS shader effects, particles and a new "windowed CCTV" design
Added music theme (composed by Alex Bertram-Powell)
COMPUTER:
Added research logs and diagrams about the Striders
Added character avatars to Zaro's crew dossier files
RADIO:
New look and animations for the radio spectrogram screen
More readable and localizable font for the radio channel and decoding displays
Overhauled and simplified the process of selecting and decoding a message received on the radio:
Decoding no longer introduces random characters and spaces in the output
The area that needs to be selected for successful decoding is a bit more forgiving
The direction of selection for successful decoding is no longer important
UI:
Added a new design for the upper HUD section containing time, scheduled actions, as well as elapsed and remaining ticks.
Replaced the typeface of the chat and mask interface with a more readable and localizable type
Added speaker avatars to the chat channels
New design and shader effects for the day title cards
Updated mask HUD interface theme colors
SFX:
Added different interface sounds for the devices in the room to differentiate them from the interface sounds of the player's breathing mask
New sound for advancing/fast-forwarding time
MUSIC:
Added a new track for a story section in Day 1 (composed by Alex Bertram-Powell)
Added music crossfading between scenes
UI:
The Objectives button is not shown anymore in the group meeting scene, where the player has no active objectives
COMPUTER:
Now some network files can be hidden until the right conditions to reveal them to the player
RADIO:
The time fast forward effect is now applied to the blinking LEDs.
Now the LED of an incoming message stops blinking and stays lit if the message on that channel has been fully decoded, rather than continuing to blink.
We can't believe there are ONLY 2 WEEKS LEFT till gamescom 😶🌫️
We'll be there with an exclusive gamescom demo and will be giving away stickers (while supplies last) to folks who play through it to the end! Find us in the Indie Arena Booth (Hall 10.2) together with 4 other titles from the Gamecity Hamburg delegation - Map Map, Unbreachable, Light of Atlantis and Replicore:
Those who love indie story games like ours will also get a chance to participate in a stamp rally around Hall 10.2! If you play all 10 demos from the excellent lineup (All Will Rise, Cat Secretary, Deep Fog Signals, Frieda is Changing, From Ruins, Heidi's Legacy, Imprinted, Mindlock, RollerGirl, Usual June), you can sign up at any of these games' booths for a chance to win 1 in 10 Steam Gift Cards!
