Version 1.17.0 is here! Featuring a major visual addition I've wanted to bring to the table for a long time

  • Win animations. Five new animations join Spotlight when you win a hand by ron: Pillar, Gate, Vortex, Lightning, and Sakura. Pick yours under Settings > Decor > Win Animation. Random is the default and chooses a fresh one each win. Like your character voice and riichi music, the choice is personal but shared: in an online match, your animation choice plays on everyone's screen when you win.

  • Enchousen (Overtime Support). Matches now enforce the standard 30,000-point minimum to win:

    • Sudden-Death Overtime: If no player has reached 30,000 points by the end of the final round, the game continues into sudden death. Matches end as soon as any player clears 30,000 points.

    • Overtime Round Caps: Overtime is capped at a maximum of 1 extra round: South for East-only matches, and West for hanchan matches.

    • Dealer Repeats (Renchan): Dealer repeats in overtime continue play unless the dealer holds 1st place with 30,000+ points.

    • Agariyame & Tenpaiyame: In the final round (or at the overtime cap), if the dealer finishes the hand in 1st place with 30,000+ points by winning (agariyame) or holding tenpai at an exhaustive draw (tenpaiyame), the match immediately ends.

  • More online reactions. The reactions voice picker now offers 16 phrases instead of 8, filling out the grid with additional lines for every voice character.

  • AI Improvements. CPU opponent skills continue to be improved.

  • Menu refresh. The main menu's secondary entries (Settings, Statistics, History, Info, Quit) have moved into a labeled icon row at the bottom right, leaving the play destinations front and center. The in-game Info, Settings, and Exit buttons have matching icon faces.

  • This release also includes a range of smaller fixes and under-the-hood improvements.

One note for online play: this update changes the network protocol, so everyone at a table needs to be on 1.17.0. Older versions will not be able to multiplayer sessions.

Thank you so much for playing Agari and for all of your feedback and suggestions!
