We're getting closer to the next major update for Beyond Enemy Lines - Vietnam, and today we'd like to give you a first look at what is coming in Content Update 3 (v0.3.0).
The campaign continues with Mission 6: Island Assault.
After gathering crucial intelligence, you'll deploy to a chain of enemy-held islands to locate and destroy a major hostile stronghold. Expect large combat areas, multiple approaches, vehicle sections, and some of the most intense firefights in the game so far.
Content Update 3 also introduces the long-awaited Co-op Mode.
At launch, you'll be able to play the following four missions together with your friends:
Iron Harvest
Broken Arrow
Gridlock
Operation Game Warden
Co-op supports up to two players and is only the beginning. We plan to expand the mode with additional content throughout Early Access.
With the introduction of multiplayer, Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) will now be enabled.
While the game is primarily focused on cooperative gameplay, we want to ensure a fair and secure online experience from the beginning and establish the technical foundation for future multiplayer features.
We will host a number of official dedicated servers for the release of Content Update 3.
At this stage, however, we are not yet releasing the dedicated server files publicly. The current server builds log a significant amount of information and telemetry that helps us monitor stability, performance, and network behavior.
The Windows dedicated server files will be released later during Early Access once we are confident that the core systems are stable.
If you prefer to host your own sessions, you can already do so directly from the multiplayer menu.
Dedicated servers currently run at a 60 Hz tick rate.
For peer-to-peer sessions, the tick rate depends on the performance of the host's PC.
The game features a server browser and does not use matchmaking.
The server browser and multiplayer experience still lack some quality-of-life features that we would like to add. Our current priority is to verify the stability of all core features first.
Once we are confident that the foundation is solid, we'll continue improving the multiplayer experience with additional features and refinements.
Thank you for your continued support, and we can't wait to see you experience Island Assault and the new Co-op Mode soon!
