Behind the Scenes – Building Beyond Enemy Lines - Vietnam

With Early Access just a few days away, we want to give you a quick look behind the scenes of Beyond Enemy Lines - Vietnam.

The screenshots below show parts of our editor - how levels are built, how missions are structured, and how gameplay logic comes together. At first glance, it may look chaotic: colorful icons, lines, markers, and nodes everywhere. But every element you see has a clear purpose.

Each mission in Beyond Enemy Lines - Vietnam is handcrafted – and we mean that literally. Several hundred hours have gone into every single mission. These are large environments, filled with carefully placed details, enemy setups, patrol routes, triggers, and dynamic setups. Everything is deliberately planned and built to support a wide range of sandbox situations, allowing missions to play out differently depending on your approach.

To make all of this work, we ended up building our own tools alongside the game: the Polygon Art Development Kit (PADK).

In simple terms, it lets us create and connect gameplay directly inside the editor. Instead of writing everything purely in code, we can place, link, and tweak things visually. That means we can build missions faster, adjust details on the fly, and shape encounters exactly the way we want them to feel.

While the editor view might look complex, it actually gives us a high level of control, clarity, and flexibility. It’s the foundation that allows Beyond Enemy Lines - Vietnam to deliver dynamic, reactive combat scenarios across its large mission areas.

Every line, node, and marker you see in these screenshots is part of that system – built to give you the freedom to approach each situation your own way.

We can’t wait for you to finally get your hands on Beyond Enemy Lines - Vietnam. This is just the beginning - after the Early Access launch, we’ll continue to expand the game with new content and improvements. Your feedback will play a key role in shaping what comes next, and we’re ready to listen.
