Promotion of the experimental branch to the main build. Includes everything since 0.5.26.
Players reported colonies failing on worlds the survey rated green, with food and power in surplus. One run: 66% habitability, nobody left after eight years. Another finished with 368 colonists of 1,000; another with one. Cause: salvage from stripping the landed ship is the only material a shelter or infirmary is built from, and nothing in the game said so. The work is on the COLONY STATUS tab, under RECLAMATION. Measured over 24 runs — 1,000 colonists, 66% habitability, half-full stores:
Panel never opened: 17 of 24 colonies lost, average final population 46.
Three works per year: 0 lost, average final population 654.
Changes:
Three decisions now fire in the first years after landing. The stripped landers and what to do with the plate; the population count as landing stores deplete; the annual upkeep column in the year's figures. Each can be refused. Each names the panel it concerns.
Three notes added to the Captain's Briefing: what salvage is for, what a settlement pays the world each year, and that landing stores only decrease. Each appears once, when relevant; full text stays under ?.
A German player reported correcting the text roughly every five seconds. 800 lines were read against the English source and corrected — read, not spellchecked. Defects found:
Claims added by the translation that the English does not make.
A character whose gender changed mid-card.
One faction with five German names, another with three.
Six measurements written as masses.
16 places naming a screen by a name the game does not use.
Choice labels partly in English, including DIVERT ALLE RESOURCen zu SHIP-SYSTEMen.
Automated checks passed throughout. They verify that a cell is populated and in the correct script. They do not check meaning.
All 0.5.26 changes: Workshop pack fixes, expanded mod seams, and the deck plan that can be walked deck by deck.
Fixed: the deck plan crashed on every draw.
