Hey all,

FIXED!

We have pushed a patch to the game that now saves videos to "C:/ProgramData/ActingOutGame", which bypasses issues with non-ASCII or Cyrillic character usernames breaking the video exporter.

If you were having this issue before, please update the demo and try again.

Sorry for the inconvenience for the initial issue, but thank you for your patience and supporting the game!

A massive thank you to user MeQva for helping us find the issue!Cheers,
-Winston and Jeff

[ORIGNAL POST]

We've had a few users reporting an issue where they black screen in the cinema, and leaving JPEG files and .wav in the output folder. We are still getting to the bottom of the issue, but we also need your help in identifying the cause. We have a temporary workaround fix and are working on patching the game.

Theory

The video exporting program may be failing when a user has Cyrillic or non-ASCII characters in their Windows username. It is trying to find the saved images and audio files to merge, but the video recording plugin was not written to handle non-ASCII characters.

The files are located at:
C:\\Users\\[USERNAME]\\AppData\\Local\\InteractSandbox\\Saved\\VideoCaptures\\output
so if your USERNAME contains non-ASCII characters, this may be the cause of the problem.

We are investigating a fix.

Temporary Workaround

Until we patch the game, you can work around this by creating a new user account in Windows with ASCII characters only (standard English alphabet) and playing the game on that account.

Reporting

If you have encountered this issue, please share details here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/4267780/discussions/0/837249796380209133/

Thank you to user MeQva for investigating and narrowing down the issue with us.

Thanks for playing and we hope to get this fixed ASAP!

Cheers,
-Jeff and Winston

In-game event6 Aug 2026Demo Patch: 5.1 Audio Fix + Microphone Settings ImprovementsHey all, We've released a patch for the demo that addresses a failstate with the movie renderer where if you had a 5.1 audio output in Windows, the video rendering would get stuck on "Preparing to Render" forever. A big thank you to Phantimon from the Discord for investigating the issue and helping us get it fixed! Additionally, we've added a visual for the microphone output volume so you can m…Community31 Jul 2026An Update on our Release PlansHey everyone, We’re here with a quick update about our release plans. Initially we wanted to do our Early Access release in July 2026, however we have decided to cook a bit longer so we can expand our feature set, amount of movie scenes and add in some of the some of the requests and ideas from the community. We’re hugely grateful for everybody’s interest in the game, their feedback from playin…In-game event23 Jul 2026Patch: Low Disk Space WarningHey all, We have just pushed an update that includes a pop-up warning if you are too low on disk space to record. This issue was sometimes causing videos to not render, resulting in Preparing forever or a black screen in the theatre. For now, we ask you set aside 2GB to give the game space for recording and rendering out movies. (Most movies require 0.3 - 1.0GB each, and are compressed afterwar…
