Okko The Exiled's Next Fest Demo Is Complete!

Hey, everyone!

That's right, you read it in the headline— Okko's Next Fest demo is complete!

As you might already know, the upcoming Steam Next Fest is taking place from June 9 - 16, and during this time the “Okko The Exiled Demo” will be available for download.

This demo represents the first “chapter” of Okko’s journey, as he travels to The Old Throne, and then seeks out the Old Sabaoth Guardian. Based on our internal testing, the demo seems to be 45 - 60 minutes long! The idea here, is that this amount of time will give players (you!) a good idea of how the game plays, how it’s structured, and how insanely epic Okko’s story is going to be in the full game!

With the demo right on the horizon, we wanted to share some gameplay tips that should help you guide Okko through Kutala, as he carves a path of destruction to the demo’s conclusion.

GAMEPLAY TIPS:

  1. Use Okko’s heart! This means, get comfortable with Focus Mode, as it really changes the way you approach enemies and other obstacles. If any of the enemies in the game feel too “spongy”, try landing a critical hit on them. For example, the Fauns— those things have 4 HP. And to defeat them, Okko can either hit them 4 times (so spongy), or simply land one critical hit to defeat them instantly (not so spongy).
  2. Don’t be afraid to use Okko’s Projectile Resources (little energy stones that hover around Okko when he collects a Red Skull). Okko’s Dragon Wave (projectile attack) does huge damage to a row of enemies, and chances are there’s another Red Skull not too far ahead. The problem is, if Okko already has 3 Red Skulls, he won’t be able to loot a 4th, so you’ll have to either fire off a round for fun, or leave the newly-discovered Red Skull behind.
  3. Revisit The Old Throne! There’re a couple of reasons to do this:1) After going through a level or two, Okko might have enough Gems to buy something from the shops, or he might have found enough ingredients for PanPan to cook him a hot meal!2) The NPCs at The Old Throne will have new things to say. There’s actually a ton of lore in the game, but it’s not really spoon-fed to the player. You gotta poke around. You gotta be curious. You gotta check out the scrolls you collect.
  4. Use potions in a pinch! When you loot a potion for the first time, check your inventory for a description of what it does. Currently, Okko can only hold 2 of each type of potion. These potions have various effects and can easily turn the tides of battle if Okko ends up in a tight spot.

That's about it for now. Sure, we could go on about linking attacks, using the bounce-smash, and other tactics, but we want to leave a bunch of stuff for players (YOU!) to discover on your own.

We’re super excited to share the “Okko The Exiled Demo” with everyone in June and we hope you’ll check it out!

As always, thanks for your support and interest in the game!
