Your Grace, I must confess... today's introductions have given me quite the headache. I present to you two knights who are, as it happens, of the same blood. The niece and the uncle. We have Brunhilda, a former princess of Gavault who seems to have traded her crown for a very large axe and an even larger attitude. Then there is Sir Tarcus, the brother of the late Count of Gavault. He is a man who speaks of "order" and "blood" with such conviction it makes even the stones of this Tower feel a bit uneasy... I'll let them speak for themselves, Your Grace. I daresay they will anyway.
"Okay okay okay. Your Grace!! Hi!! OMG, I've literally been waiting FOREVER to do this and I have so much to say, don't let me forget anything...
So. I'm Brunhilda. Princess of Gavault, drop-out, certified bookworm, and your new favourite knight, obviously. Yes, that Gavault. No, I'm not like my mom. Yes, my Uncle Tarcus is also here, which is... a whole thing. We're fine. Totally fine. Moving on!!
You should know I was basically locked in a tower my whole childhood. Not this tower, my old one, before it got all messy - so I know a thing or two about stone walls, silence, and having zero friends. But now that I’ve been able to escape all that? Best era of my life. Ate bread with normal people for the first time. It was fire.
I'm into occult stuff, ancient creatures, spells, curses, all of it. Apparently, there are mermaids in Brizh? I am totally NOT okay with them. Also? I fight. Like, really fight. Don't let the princess thing fool you. These flames aren’t just for glam.
I want to be here. Like, genuinely. Not because I have to be, or because of who my family is. I have real teeth and I intend to use them. You're going to be glad you let me in, I swear.
"Your Grace, I will spare you the theatrics. I trust you have already seen enough of those from my niece.
I am Sir Tarcus. Brother to the late Count of Gavault, veteran of the Tarascus War, and one of the few men in this kingdom who has looked power directly in the eye without flinching. I have fought alongside nobles, against tyrants, and yes, against my own blood when duty demanded it. History will not always be kind to the methods employed, but history rarely concerns itself with what was necessary.
I did not come to this Tower because I was invited. I came because the work that needs doing here is the kind that requires a steady hand and a focused mind. Sentiment is a fine thing... for poets. For a Sovereign? A crack in the foundations of the Tower.
What I offer you is this... CLARITY. A ruler who is feared is not always beloved, but a ruler who is beloved is not always obeyed. I know the difference. I have lived it. If you intend to build something lasting from these walls, you will need someone willing to say the words others are too timid to speak. I am that man.
I am not here to make friends, though I confess the company is marginally less insufferable than expected. Bahaha!
The morality of our decisions should not cloud our actions for the sake of your reign. A weak heart has no place in this world. Not in yourself. And certainly not in me."
Your Grace, the court is divided - who will you favour for your Round Table? Will it be the fierce and rebellious Brunhilda? Or the formidable, iron-fisted Sir Tarcus? Let us know in the comments!
