SITREP - UPDATE 3.05

Reported by Josef Šimánek (retro), on 17 August 2026

FROM: Remastered Development
TO: Arma: Cold War Assault - Remastered players
INFO: Update 3.05, MODS Support, Community development

SITUATION

First of all, I would like to thank everyone for the very warm welcome you gave the Remastered release. It has been great to see old players returning to Everon, Malden, Kolgujev, and Nogova, as well as new players discovering the game which started it all. Thank you for playing, sharing your experiences, and taking the time to report problems and suggest improvements!

Update 3.05 brings a long list of fixes and improvements. Among the highlights are the reworked MODS catalog with support for mod updates, better support for singleplayer and multiplayer missions supplied by mods, fixes for community islands loading without their objects, and fixes for streamed OGG sounds used by mods. The update also improves custom controls, graphics options, profile and save paths, and several multiplayer flows. The complete changelog contains all details.

INTELLIGENCE

Update 3.05 is mostly focused on mods and bug fixes. Thank you to everyone who reported compatibility issues, missing functionality, and feature requests while testing classic community content. Mods in the built-in MODS storage have been enhanced and uploaded again with the additional support now available in the engine. They can provide their own singleplayer missions, multiplayer missions, editor templates, island intros, fonts, and other content more reliably.

An honorable mention goes to FDFMOD and especially Gorasu. FDFMOD 1.35 is a new release after many years, fixing several issues and adding a large pack of collected missions. Testing and feedback from the team also helped uncover many issues in the Remastered engine. Reports about community islands loading empty, problems with mod sounds, and other compatibility details gave me clear cases to investigate and improve. Thank you for the help.

The internal MODS manager has also received a reworked interface. It can now detect and install updated revisions of mods from the MODS storage. Please update your installed mods to receive their latest functionality and bug fixes. This manager will continue to improve over time as more mods and use cases are tested.

If you have not explored the classic OFP modding scene before, there is a lot waiting for you:

  • FDFMOD and CSLA are total conversions with their own units, weapons, vehicles, islands, campaigns, missions, and other assets. They show how far the original game and its engine were pushed by their communities.
  • FFUR takes a different approach by replacing and refreshing the original vanilla assets. You can use it to play the original campaigns and missions, or other compatible content, with a different atmosphere. As a bonus tip, try it with MFCTI, which is also available from the MODS storage, for a refreshed version of one of OFP’s best-known multiplayer experiences.

    OPERATIONS

I would also like to thank everyone who has already joined our community development effort. Development is taking place openly at CWR-CE on GitHub, where various fixes and features are being worked on right now.

For example, there is already an experimental macOS build ready for testing. Any help with development, testing, documentation, or reporting reproducible issues will be very much appreciated and welcomed. You can also join our community Discord through ofpisnotdead.com.

Work is also in progress to expand Papa Bear into a wider portal for the community. The plan is to bring more resources together in one place, including documentation, guides, frequently asked questions, development builds, and project news. The attached mockup shows the current direction, and the portal will continue to grow over time.

For now, you can find these guides online:

  • Composing a mod for CWR
  • CWR folders and user files
  • Using custom mods in CWR
  • Running a public CWR dedicated server

    LOGISTICS

This is still only the beginning. The initial Remastered release was mainly focused on preserving and restoring the original game content: its missions, campaigns, islands, and the experience of playing Cold War Crisis and Resistance on current systems. Update 3.05 moves beyond that foundation with its focus on mods and bug fixes, but there is still much more to revisit and improve.

For the next patch, I plan to revisit multiplayer and improve it further. Suggestions, ideas, and bug reports are all welcome. I personally scan the Steam Discussions, the GitHub project, and our Discord, so please report through whichever of those places is most convenient for you.

Thank you again for playing, helping, and keeping this game alive.

    See you on the battlefield!

    - Josef Šimánek (retro)
