Demo Update v.0.4.79

Midnight Launch: A Gameshop Sim Demo · published 24 Feb 2026, 12:00 UTC

All eventsPlayers around this dateRead on Steam

Note: These notes also include changes made in v.0.4.78.

Multiplayer

  • Multiplayer mode is now fully disabled in the demo.

    • Going into Next Fest, we knew Multiplayer would have some very rough edges. We'd hoped it would be functional enough to at least give an idea of where things are headed, but there are just too many gamebreaking issues for it to be enjoyable. The bugs won this round, but we'll get 'em.

Gameplay

  • Length of each day has been reduced slightly.

  • Total number of customers visiting each day has been reduced.

    • While the chaos of retail hell is a core part of the GameShop Simulator experience, we overshot the mark a little bit for the demo, which doesn't have the difficulty options that the full release will. These changes should give you a little bit more downtime between customers, and make your time spent stocking up before opening last for more of the day.

  • The demo's Midnight Release event now occurs at the end of Day 2 instead of Day 3.

    • There's a handful of issues right now that can break the game and prevent you from continuing. We're working hard on fixes, but in the meantime, we're making it easier to reach the end of the demo and see the Midnight Release.

Environment

  • Reduced the chance for the weather to be raining, particularly on the first day.

    • One of our devs swore that it was always only a chance and that other weather types could appear, but then made this change anyway. We think that speaks for itself.

Community1 Sep 2026Midnight Launch Demo is Available! It's time: the new demo for Midnight Launch: A GameShop Sim is now available! This single-player demo is a hearty sampling of everything we've been working on since February. You'll be able to check out the new environment, play through our revamped progression mechanics (up to 3 stars; around 20% of the full game), and get a glimpse of all the other new and reworked features we've been hard at…Community17 Aug 2026Presenting MIDNIGHT LAUNCH: A GameShop SimBack in February, we had our first public showing of the GameShop Simulator demo during Steam Next Fest. During that time, we received a ton of feedback about the game, all of which carried one central theme: the concept was fun, and the game showed a lot of promise, but it needed more time to cook. So, we got back in the kitchen, and we've been cooking. As a completely independent studio opera…Community6 Mar 2026What's Next For GameShop Simulator?Thank you to everyone who checked out the GameShop Simulator demo during Steam Next Fest! Now that the event is over, it's time to take down the demo, reflect on what we've learned, and start working on what comes next. Across all the feedback we received during the demo period, there are two big topics that have stuck out: · Our game has a ton of potential, but... · It also still needs a lot o…
