Hello everyone!
Last week I made an announcement, I said that Whiskara was going to change a lot. I completely forgot to follow it up with another announcement to tell you all what will actually be changing, so here is that late announcement post.
Big Changes:
- The game engine will be updated to Unity 6, as it is more stable and faster, so development will be easier.
- As you may already know, some of the story will be rewritten, same goes for some character backstory.
- The quest system in the game will be completely overhauled, the old one was fine, but it has it's limits and is very janky. This new one is much better and has many new features. The way you get these quests is by asking an NPC if they have any quests, and if they do, you can select from the list of quests and accept one. Right now only one quest can be active at a time.
- NPC dialogue is now mostly there for plot purposes. However, some NPCs will have dialogue that can affect the course of the game, but it isn't going to be as big of a feature as it currently is in Alpha 1.1, so when the 1.2 update comes out, the "Choice-Driven Storytelling" feature mentioned on the Steam page will most likely be removed or changed to reflect it's lesser importance to the gameplay.
- The font used in the game will no longer be Boombox, it will instead be replaced with Better VCR font. Even though I haven't seen any user issues with the Boombox font used in-game, an uppercase font is not very legible.
- due to how the game will work in 1.2, some achievements are no longer possible to attain (Specifically: 'The Butterfly Effect', 'Stupid Is As Stupid Does', and 'Love Is In The Air'), so they will be removed from the game.
Small Changes:
- The UI has had some polishing to look a bit better on the eyes
- Shadow quality will be much better
Even after the change in direction, the game sound will still be improved:
- Subtle ambient music will be added
- Footstep sounds will be added
- Sound for when Lyra is out of breath will be added
- NPC voices are going to be remade, so some NPCs will have their own unique voices

Thank You!
Alpha 1.2 is going to be a huge update, and I expect it to be ready sometime in mid-late February, but delays may happen if I don't feel like the update is ready. In some way I regret releasing the game in such an unfinished state, I do apologise. But let's just look at the future of the game, it will only get better from here, and with the feedback from you all, we can truly make this game amazing!
