Another transmission from Mars comes in… 🧑🚀
As you saw before, Mars will require plenty of endurance and grit from you to survive it. But also some quick thinking and a flexible mind!
Conditions can change in an instant, and every decision may carry weight you won’t feel until it’s too late.
That is why today we’re introducing the research and technology development mechanics on Mars!
You will have to decide what you need, one discovery at a time. So choose carefully!
The first step is to build a Research Station. This is where data from your Mars explorations is processed, and where new technologies are unlocked—related to base expansion, food production, resource processing, and forecasting dangerous atmospheric phenomena. You will have to decide what should be the priority, what you need at the moment to increase your odds!
Every unlocked technology opens new possibilities—but also new dilemmas. There is never enough time to research everything.
Careful planning and adaptation will define your success.

To unlock technology, you often need to complete tasks related to it—explore Mars, collect regolith samples, or build sonars that scan resource deposits and gather data for further analysis.
The more you explore, the more you will unravel!
But you will need to find balance between research and actual resources you need right now to survive another day. Knowledge will give you nothing if you are not able to use it!

You deliver the collected data to the Research Station and perform analyses. This is a time-consuming process, it can take several or even over a dozen Martian days.
Procedurally generated maps will make unlocking each technology a unique challenge. Keep exploring, keep researching—your survival depends on progress!
Adapt, improvise, and push forward, Mars won’t forgive hesitation.
