The 1.0 release of shapez 2 is AVAILABLE NOW, bringing a whole lot of new features and improvements to the table – especially compared to shapez 1! Much of the feedback and untapped potential of the first shapez has been addressed in shapez 2, so let's take a look at why we highly recommend you check it out now that it's officially released.
shapez 2 allows you to scale up your factories many times more than in shapez 1 without the game slowing down. You can now also build in the third dimension with three building layers at factory level, but also three building layers at platform level! It's up to you whether you'd like to build your factory wide, or build tall.
Connect everything up by Space Belt or Train, which allows for much higher throughput than just regular belts, and take all your shapes to the Vortex - the new central HUB in shapez 2.
The release of 1.0 brings a whole new game mode: Manufacture Mode! This mode introduces Trade Stations that need a constant supply of shapes to produce a brand-new shape type needed to progress.
In Manufacture Mode, your entire factory stays in use into the end game and you'll want to keep expanding to meet demand – as if you needed more reasons to make huge factories.
As you probably already spotted, shapez 2 looks a lot different to shapez 1! Aside from just looking pretty, buildings now have an open design, allowing you to see what's going on inside. Are you producing the wrong shape? Have a look at your buildings to see where the issue lies!
There are a bunch of new shapes in shapez 2 that introduce new challenges. Crystal shapes break if they're dropped, Pins streamline floating shapes and Hexagonal shapes are a separate scenario where shapes consist of sextants instead of quadrants!
Fluids now replace paint, which is transported through pipes!
Create a big collection of blueprints to streamline your factory building, and save them all in the handy in-game Blueprint Library! Here, you can easily share your blueprints with friends and import others'.
Modding is now officially supported through the Steam Workshop! Simply subscribe to your favourite mods and manage them through the in-game Mod Manager. Everything is possible, from small quality of life tweaks to new buildings, new shapes and whole game overhauls!
