Everything you need to know before deploying into Vietnam.

Beyond Enemy Lines - Vietnam launches into Early Access on May 22, 2026.
As a small independent team, we want to be transparent about what players can expect at launch, what is still in development, and where the game is heading during Early Access.

This FAQ covers the current state of the game, multiplayer plans, future updates, modding support, dedicated servers and more.

GENERAL

What is Beyond Enemy Lines - Vietnam?

Beyond Enemy Lines - Vietnam is a tactical first-person shooter set during the Vietnam War.
You fight behind enemy lines through jungles, villages, military compounds and river systems while completing story-driven operations.

The game combines:

  • Tactical sandbox gameplay

  • Large mission areas

  • Dynamic AI combat

  • Vehicles and helicopters

  • Solo and 2-player coop campaign

  • PvP multiplayer

  • User-generated content tools

The full campaign can be played solo or in coop once all campaign updates are released during Early Access.

Why is the game launching in Early Access?

Early Access allows us to further polish and expand Beyond Enemy Lines - Vietnam together with the community.

While the full campaign is already fully playable, we want to use Early Access to improve balancing, performance, AI behavior, gameplay systems and overall polish based on real player feedback before the full release.

It also allows us to gradually expand features like Coop, PvP and UGC systems while ensuring they meet player expectations and quality standards.

How long will the game stay in Early Access?

We currently estimate the Early Access phase to last around 2–4 months.

All planned campaign missions already exist and are fully playable from start to finish. The main focus of Early Access is polishing, balancing, optimization and improving the overall gameplay experience based on community feedback.

The duration of Early Access may be extended if necessary to ensure the game reaches the quality level we are aiming for.

What content is available at launch?

The initial Early Access release includes:

  • 4 Campaign Missions

  • 1 standalone Operation separate from the main campaign

  • Tactical sandbox gameplay

  • Dynamic AI systems

  • Weapon progression

  • Vehicles and helicopters

  • Core combat systems

  • Foundation for future updates

All campaign missions already exist and are fully playable internally.

However, only the first 4 of the planned 8 campaign missions will be available at the start of Early Access, as these are the missions that have already gone through extensive playtesting and balancing.

Based on player feedback from the initial release, we will continue testing, refining and polishing Mission 5-8 before releasing tem step by step.
Each following campaign mission will then be released individually during Early Access after additional testing and adjustments.

MULTIPLAYER

Is multiplayer part of the Early Access launch?

No.

Multiplayer features will be introduced step by step during Early Access.

The rollout currently planned is:

  1. Coop Updates

  2. PvP Updates

Why is multiplayer not available at launch?

Coop and PvP are already functional internally.

However, we want to carefully guide feedback and stabilize the core gameplay experience before enabling additional large-scale systems.

We are a very small team and can only provide a limited amount of support during launch week.
Rolling out multiplayer gradually allows us to react faster to issues and improve stability based on community feedback.

Will the game support coop?

Yes.

The campaign is designed with 2-player coop support in mind, and coop updates are already planned on the roadmap.

Will there be PvP?

Yes.

PvP updates are planned during Early Access and will introduce dedicated multiplayer maps and modes.

Will there be bot support?

Yes.

The AI used in the singleplayer campaign is also designed to work in Coop and PvP environments.

Will there be matchmaking?

No.

Beyond Enemy Lines - Vietnam uses a classic server browser system instead of skill-based matchmaking.

Will dedicated server files be released?

Yes.

At a later stage during Early Access we plan to publicly release dedicated server files.

However, dedicated servers are not required to play multiplayer.
Players can also host temporary peer-to-peer servers directly ingame.

ONLINE & OFFLINE PLAY

What happens if the official servers go offline someday?

The game will remain playable.

Singleplayer is fully playable offline.

The multiplayer architecture is also designed to continue functioning without our official backend services, although some online features may become limited.

Our backend infrastructure is highly scalable, shared across multiple games and has extremely low running costs, so we do not expect the servers to disappear anytime soon.

Does the game require a constant internet connection?

No.

Singleplayer can be played fully offline.

Online connectivity is only required for multiplayer features and online progression synchronization.

MONETIZATION

Will there be microtransactions or an ingame shop?

No.

There are currently no plans for microtransactions, premium currencies or pay-to-win systems.

Will there be paid DLCs?

Currently there are no plans for paid DLCs.

We already have a large list of planned additional content for every gameplay mode and system, and these are currently planned as free content updates during and after Early Access.

MODDING & UGC

Will the game support user-generated content?

Yes.

UGC support is a major part of the long-term vision for Beyond Enemy Lines - Vietnam.

Planned features include:

  • Ingame mission editor

  • Singleplayer Missions and Capmaign creation

  • Coop and PvP Mission and Map creation

  • Cross-platform UGC support

Will Steam Workshop support be available?

No.

Beyond Enemy Lines - Vietnam uses a custom cross-platform UGC system instead of Steam Workshop.

Players will be able to create, upload, browse and download missions directly from inside the game.
The system is designed to work across all supported platforms and is not limited to Steam.

PERFORMANCE & TECHNICAL QUESTIONS

Will performance improve during Early Access?

Yes.

Performance optimization is one of the biggest priorities during Early Access.

The game features:

  • Large environments

  • Dense vegetation

  • Advanced AI systems

  • Dynamic combat behavior

Optimization work will continue throughout development.

Will the game support ultrawide monitors?

Yes.

Ultrawide resolutions are supported.

Will controllers be supported?

Controller support is included.

  • Multiplayer testing results

COMMUNITY & FEEDBACK

How can players help during Early Access?

Feedback is extremely important for us.

Bug reports, balancing feedback, gameplay suggestions and technical reports all help us improve the game faster.

Constructive feedback directly influences development priorities during Early Access.

Please keep in mind that we are a very small team.
A large part of our time during Early Access will be spent directly improving the game, fixing issues and working on updates.

Because of this, we will not be able to personally reply to every post, comment or discussion thread.

However, we actively read community discussions, track reported issues and collect constructive feedback internally.
If we do not directly respond to something, it does not mean we ignored it or did not see it.

We will also continue moderating discussions when necessary to keep feedback constructive and helpful for everyone.

Where can players report bugs or give feedback?

Players can use:

  • Steam Discussions

  • Discord

  • Social Media

Additional community platforms may be expanded during Early Access.
