So, I hit a massive mental roadblock for about four days this week, leaving me completely stuck on where to take the game until a deep dive into Roman history opened up a whole new path for the gameplay loop.
In this devlog, you’ll see:
The Mental Wall: Overcoming a multi-day creative slump and deciding to scrap annoying percentage-based RNG in favor of travel events where the player has definitive control over the outcome.
Festivals & Rivalries: The implementation of a new "touring" system where you travel to festivals, manage a morning-to-night cycle of preparation and hype, and navigate complex political alliances (or betrayals) with eight rival factions.
The Rockstar Life: My discovery that Roman gladiators essentially went on touring circuits like modern athletes, dealing with everything from noble invitations to getting sick or ambushed on the road.
