Patch #22: Treasures, New Decrees, Balancing, QoL

Today we're bringing you a much needed and requested patch. We're addressing many balancing topics, improving overall performance, and of course, adding new content. There are 22 new decrees in patch 22, and also a brand new cool mechanic!

Treasure chests:

You might now find mysterious treasure chests in your land! To get their loot, you must explore (unlock) the plot where it's buried. This mechanic will present yet another variable for your strategies and give you new motivations to expand your kingdom. A new decree and a new universal perk built around the treasure chests were also added!

New decrees:

It's time for a new batch of decrees. We're adding a total of 22! New king decrees will make each king experience even more unique and some pretty cool new rainbow decrees will shake things up as usual.

Full list of decrees:

  • Conscription (Universal)

  • Relics (Rainbow)

  • Yield (Rainbow)

  • Invisibility (Rainbow)

  • Magic Bricks (Rainbow)

  • Agronomy (Nothing)

  • Smith Tower (Nothing)

  • Witchdoctors (Spell)

  • Servitude (Greed)

  • Mecenate (Greed)

  • Heartvine (Nature)

  • Gigafunghi (Nature)

  • Death Pool (Blood)

  • Bloodbath (Blood)

  • Monopoly (Stone)

  • Brickmaster (Stone)

  • Distillery (Stone)

  • Dismantling (Nomads)

  • Khanate (Nomads)

  • Rambo (Progress)

  • Kintsugi (Time)

  • Fracture (Time)

Reworks:

  • All decree stack caps were increased and tweaked. For the sake of clarity, now all decrees are either single use, infinite, or limited (x3 stacks).

  • Performance: plots with 9999+ units now also have optimized processing, making the game even harder to break (GIVE US YOUR BEST)

  • Trapper was revamped: traps now stay forever. They're triggered once per battle. Trappers will now place one trap and then rush into battle. Each trap retains the stats the Trapper had the moment it was placed on the battlefield.

  • Converter summons now lure enemies like other summons. Here's how it works now: as long as you have troops, all summons will be attacked. But after your troop count goes down to zero, no new summons will stop enemies from rushing to your base.

  • Pagoda now summons Ghosts instead of Imps. They behave exactly the same way, but with a new name and visuals to be clearer about the fact they're invulnerable and don't lure enemies.

  • Randomfy (Rainbow) now also works with base plots!

  • Chaos cards are now on the Diversify decree pool after year 33.

Balancing:

Cards:

  • Castle (Nothing): attack cooldown is 5% faster.

  • Palace (Greed): it now deals 1% of its total damage to bosses (they are no longer immune to it).

  • Pagoda (Blood): summons' attack & movement speed are 10% faster.

  • Mangler (Blood): initial damage and attack speed were increased.

  • Imp (Blood): damage was increased.

  • Bomber (Blood): damage was increased. HP was drastically increased making it harder for units to die from ranged attacks and explode before reaching target. This might also enable some unexpected synergies.

  • Trapper (Stone): stats were rebalanced to match unit's new behavior.

  • Defender & Executioner (Progress): they now get +50% buffs when leveling up.

  • Executioner (Progress): crit chance is now 4x higher.

  • Converter (Progress): summons now lure enemies.

  • Bastion (Time): it now has a bigger AoE and deal +1 damage.

  • Hourglass (Time): its attack speed was mildly increased.

  • Amplifier (Time): it no longer works with Bunker & Engineering decrees.

  • Orbiter (Time): attack speed was mildly increased.

  • Randomfy (Rainbow): now also works with base cards.

Decrees:

  • As stated before: All decree stack caps were increased.

  • Burglary (Greed): It now gives troops 3 Midas Touch stacks instead of 2.

  • Wilderness (Nature): Forest plots now spawn at level 3 instead of level 1.

  • Barricade (Stone): Walls now reflect +50% of damage instead of +10%.

  • Futurism (Progress): ALL troops now have no max level.

  • Loophole (Time): It now doubles the number of times an enemy is warped by Bastion every stack (2 > 4 > 8 > and so on)

  • Big Bang (Time): Hourglass first attack now stun enemies for +2 seconds.

Perks:

  • Ranger (Progress): Executioner now gets twice as much damage (40%).

  • Progressive (Progress): ALL Progress cards can now level up one more time.

  • Bellicist (Progress): ALL cards now start with +10% crit chance.

  • Agile (Time): it is now twice as strong (20%).

  • Exiler (Time): warped units now move farther away from your base.

  • King of Greed now starts with 9 gold instead of 30 to better match other kings' early game.

Quests

All the tweaks listed above should considerably improve quest play throughs, but we also addressed a couple of more specific issues:

  • Blood Money (Greed): Enemies strength now scales a bit slower.

  • Nomads Revolt (Nomads): Enemies strength now scales a bit slower.

  • Blitz (Time): Enemies strength now scales a bit slower.

  • The Siege (Stone): Stronghold now starts with a 50% damage boost.

  • We're currently studying new ways to make Quest Mode more fun both for casual players and players who want a bigger challenge. Stay tuned.

QoL:

  • When you level up while playing in Quest Mode and unlock a new perk, you will now see the perks unlock screen like in the main game.

  • Non-roman fonts were optimized.

  • Troop respawning when loading a run & traveling in time was optimized.

  • Expansion Tower animation is not played again when you load a game.

Fixes:

  • We have updated our engine (Unity) again, and it should have fixed the rare issue some players were having with launching the game.

  • Fixed font issues in multiple languages that use non-Roman characters.

  • Fixed a bug that caused Palace attacks to crash the game during boss battles.

  • Adjusted units trained stat on end game results screen (Migration and loading a run no longer wrongly increases count).

  • Fixed a glitch that gave you a quest check mark even when you didn't beat the challenge.

  • Randomfied Flametowers now move properly.

  • Fixed a glitch that caused plots to display negative damage after receiving a Chaos card.

  • Banisher perk now works properly with gamepads.

  • You can no longer play cards when starting an expansion year while using a controller.

  • Mycelium no longer gets a massive boost whenever you load a run.

  • Incantation quest troop count was fixed (should also have fixed other eventual occurrences).

• Infertility Quest: all Converters are now shooting properly.

• Rubble Kingdom Quest: all Dragon's Dens now have proper stats again.

• Fixed some text descriptions.
