We are adding an open beta branch to Empire of Sin where you can test the upcoming patch we have been working on, to see if it resolves some of your issues. This beta branch will stay open until we are ready to release the patch to everyone on both PC and console.
If you want to try out the Beta branch, you find the instructions on how to access it below. You can always switch back to the non-beta branch at any time.
How to access the beta branch:
Go to your Steam Library. On the right hand side, find Empire of Sin:
How to activate the correct Branch:
Right klick on Empire of Sin in your Steam Library
Go to Properties
Click the “Betas” tab
In the Beta participation "hamburger menu”, make sure you choose:
The game should start a new download. Once it is done, you are on the beta branch and you can go ahead and play the game!
What is a Beta branch?
A beta branch is an optional version of the game that players can opt into to test new features, updates, or fixes before they're released to everyone. Developers use beta branches to gather feedback and identify bugs in a controlled environment.
Will my progress on the beta branch stay if I play on it and then change back?
Your game progress should not be affected by playing on the beta branch. However, since it is a beta branch, it might be behaving differently than the non-beta branch. There could potentially be more bugs that appear, or it might be more stable if some of the previously experienced bugs have been fixed.
Are there any specific things I as a player should keep in mind?
