Soldiers can jump onto clouds, ride clouds across rivers, and even fight while standing on clouds... You can also destroy clouds to obtain resources.

Clouds will continuously and randomly generate. Timing your soldiers' jumps to land on the right clouds will give you a significant advantage in battle.
