Major update

Version 0.3 is live: rewind time!

Pretend Cars Racing 2 · published 31 Mar 2026, 14:44 UTC

The first planned big update is live and ahead of schedule! With this new version, you can now rewind time during single-player races. To keep things square, this feature is blocked during multi-player and leaderboard runs.

For the time being, you have unlimited rewinds available, but I’m deciding if there will be some specific number of flashbacks per race. If you want to share your view, join the Discord server and have a chat with the community!

Small updates recap

Between the big, planned updates, there will be some smaller ones. Here is a summary of these updates since the release in Early Access:

  • AI difficulty now goes up to 120%

  • When AI is above 100%, they will take curves more aggressively, attacking the kerbs and using inertia better in tighter turns. Their top speed remains unchanged, so the fight is fair.

  • While hotlapping for the leaderboards, you start a few hundred meters behind so you reach the start line at full speed

  • Added a new GT car

  • Made grass more forgiving

  • Improved visibility. Camera zooms out 10% more at full speed.

  • Camera shake can now be turned off in the options menu

  • Added lights to Jeddah

  • Corrected CTD bugs in car selection screen and two other instances

  • UI adjustments for Spanish

  • Fixed portraits not showing up in multiplayer races

  • In random split-screen races, Player 2's car model was sometimes used by AI

  • Under certain conditions rain could appear while doing timetrials

  • Corrected accelerator, it was working as analogue when using a controller, 0% or 100%

  • Fix AI not reversing when getting stuck into a wall

  • Wunstorf: Adjusted AI

  • Wunstorf: Adjusted track layout

  • COTA: graphical pass and improved object placement around track

  • COTA: removed possible shortcut

What comes next?

Work on the track editor is advancing at full speed (without super clipping). I have things working, you can create tracks with basic decorations, and you can upload and download them from the Workshop.

The focus on the coming weeks is to improve the UI, to make the process as easy as possible. I’m also planning to redo some under the hood systems so that everything is as flexible as possible. That will allow me to add new features without breaking compatibility.

This is the first update after 1.0, with added features and bug fixes from your reports. Thanks for all the feedback and fantastic reviews that you are sharing. I wanted to let you know that I'm focusing on improving the AI, as I tweaked it to avoid going off track on some tricky corners, it ended up being slow for really fast players. I've made some progress but it still needs a lot of tes…News31 Aug 2026Pretend Cars Racing 2 — 1.0 and BeyondWith today’s update, Pretend Cars Racing 2 is officially out of Early Access! The game is now packed with all the features I originally promised — and quite a few more along the way. ;) We’re also reaching 1.0 a little earlier than originally planned, which makes this milestone even more special. But 1.0 is by no means the end of Pretend Cars Racing 2. I already have more content and features p…
