0.6.0 : Optimization Update & Chinese New Year 🧧🐎

Dear Managers,

This update, version 0.6.0, is primarily focused on optimization. We apologize for the delay; this optimization took longer than expected as it involved a complete overhaul both on the CPU and graphical side. Work has been ongoing since mid-December, and we hope it will satisfy you. These improvements were necessary to prepare for what’s coming next: the rooftop, new floors, new employees, and new clients. Without this update, performance would have suffered significantly when the restaurant is fully populated, causing FPS drops depending on your configuration. We also take this opportunity to wish our Chinese players a very happy Year of the Horse! 🐎

⚡ Main Change – Optimization

The main focus of this update is performance optimization, targeting two axes:

  • NPC Optimization: The multiplication of customers and employees in the restaurant previously caused performance drops. Each NPC added processing overhead, and with hundreds of them, FPS could drop significantly. For example, on my configuration, FPS went from ~90–100 to ~60 in a full restaurant.

  • Graphical Optimization: Dynamic lighting and shadows have been reworked to improve performance without compromising visuals. You will notice smoother lighting and better performance across Low, Medium, and High settings.

Important: Parisian Brasserie Simulator is designed to run with a dedicated GPU. Laptops or PCs with integrated GPUs will not achieve optimal performance despite these improvements. With a dedicated GPU (GTX 970, 1080, RTX 3070, etc.), you can now enjoy much better FPS.

  • For maximum FPS, enable Nvidia DLSS if you have a compatible Nvidia card.

  • On supported Nvidia 4000 series GPUs, you can enable Frame Generation for an additional FPS boost.

  • Both AMD/Nvidia users can use FSR, which provides a similar improvement.

  • With Frame Generation enabled, I now reach 200 FPS on high settings with a full restaurant.

💡 Quality of Life Improvements

Visual Improvements: This optimization brings not only FPS gains but also a noticeable visual improvement. Shadows and lighting in Low and Medium settings are now much closer to High settings. A new Eiffel Tower has been added. Night scenes now feature a well-lit city, moon, stars, and a restaurant with comfortable lighting for your eyes. Minor graphical glitches on NPCs’ clothing and skin have been fixed. Low settings now allow both smooth FPS and attractive visuals.

Delivery System: Many of you reported delivery taking too long or trucks getting lost in Paris. In this update, delivery has been reworked:

Delivery time is no longer affected by delivery cost; it now depends on the number of delivery employees.

  • The truck will arrive behind the restaurant in a dedicated alley, avoiding blocking roads.

  • Delivery employees now run faster and unload trucks more efficiently.

  • Reminder: Placing trolleys (diables) outside the restaurant will allow employees to pick them up, greatly improving unloading speed.

Bakery Automation: Many of you shared your opinions—some were tired of making breakfasts, others loved it, and some wanted a break. A good compromise has been found: from the Menu app, you can now enable an option to automate the bakery, which is activated by default. When enabled, if breakfast stock runs out, employees will order the breakfast via the tablet, and your cook will prepare it as a regular dish. You can choose to prepare breakfasts yourself, or let the automation handle it. Employees will always prioritize freshly prepared breakfasts, and only use the tablet orders if none are available.

📝 Changes to Note

  • Due to these graphical optimizations, there is no longer a dynamic day-night cycle. Instead, a quick fade to black occurs at 7 PM to transition from day to night.

  • For the occasion, a new brasserie has been created with new textures. Walls are still paintable, but temporarily changing wall textures is no longer available. Don’t worry 🚀 With the new brasserie, a pack of much prettier wall textures is on the way!

🎊 Chinese New Year Event

In celebration of the Chinese New Year, we added some decorations around the restaurant and introduced three new dishes:

  • Shengjian

  • Lanzhou Beef Noodles

  • Moon Cake

🚀 Upcoming Changes

Now that this major optimization is complete, our 3D artists have taken the lead on the next features:

  • Employee task management system

  • Addition of new employees

  • New floors and the rooftop

  • Rooftop gameplay: prepare cocktails, lounge environment, new furniture and decorations, and a DJ area

  • Potential increase of cooperative players from 4 up to 6–8

  • Controller support for playing PBS with gamepads

Rest assured, the next updates will arrive quickly now that this major optimization is behind us. Stay tuned! ❤️
