Changelog:

Global

  • Settings reset. This is required because of the large number of configuration changes. Save files and keybinds should remain untouched.

  • Improved Steam game URL and launcher icon compatibility across different system configurations.

  • Charge Dart mini electricity sparkles effect is no longer uncapped.

  • Smoke spawn rate after gunshots is no longer uncapped.

  • Flare particles spawn rate is no longer uncapped.

  • Greatly improved Steam Deck and Linux compatibility: Graphical improvements now work correctly, all video settings are now available, speed spikes caused by Proton emulation are gone entirely, and sudden crashes have been resolved. Windows/Linux dual-boot support was tricky, but it’s finally done. Tested with Ubuntu 22.04.

The only remaining issue is that you cannot change the Master and Music volume (both are always at maximum) due to limitations in Wine’s sound implementation - something that is not under my control.

Note: Thanks to Davoto for the Steam Deck stability tests!

Multiplayer

  • Fixed missing frames in the left-side strafing, idle-swimming, and both climbing animation sequences. The issue has been fixed for all characters (except the Raptor). Animations now look smoother, without the visible jagged reset.

  • Fixed Raptor’s buggy looped death animation from the crouch position.

  • Fixed the looped jump animation for all characters. It no longer loops endlessly, as intended.

  • Fixed the “Port of Adia” achievement, which could unlock in multiplayer in very specific cases (a few forgotten triggers from beta times).

  • Fixed the issue where winning as Flesh Eater would not unlock the related achievement if the point limit was reached.

  • Improved the Cannonball and Instagib mutators: Fixed the unintended ability to pick up other items in CTF mode. Improved Raptor’s behavior. You now instantly respawn with the desired weapon instead of switching from the Pistol, saving approximately 0.5 seconds.

  • Fixed game-breaking flag issues in CTF - message and point overspamming during pickups and scoring.

  • Fixed the “Telset” typo in the OG launcher.

  • Fixed a crash that occurred when entering the in-game options menu while a PFM was spawned nearby.

Note: The same fix that was applied to the main Revised data pack in Update 5.1 has now also been applied to Mini's Remix.

Single Player

  • Sisters of Despair’s black smoke spawn rate is no longer uncapped.

  • Fixed Sisters of Despair’s health fix that wasn’t applied in Update 5.0 due to a typo in the code.

  • Lord of Undead’s charging flame spawn rate is no longer uncapped.

Launcher:

  • A small "Next" button has been added to the Keyboard options page. Clicking it opens an additional page with specific action binds, such as “look” and “strafe” modifiers or centering the camera view.

  • The keys Ctrl, Insert, Delete, Home, End, PgUp, PgDn, Num / and Num * can now be used for action bindings. In addition to the mouse, the Fire action can now also be remapped to the keyboard.

  • Brand new hotkey - Spectate. You can now enter spectator mode (Expansion DLC) by simply pressing F9, in addition to using the console command.

  • Rebuilt the function that converts keypresses into key names. It now works independently of the user’s environment, so non-default keyboards (e.g. German layout) should function properly.

  • “Zoom In” and “Zoom Out” have been renamed to "Scope Inc." and "Scope Dec." to make their purpose clearer.

  • Three new action binds for mouse buttons: Backward, Tek Bow, and Razor Wind.

  • The launcher will now search for GSpyLite and close it if it is already open before starting a new server search. This prevents possible conflicts.

  • Two new window appearance modes: Borderless and Fake Fullscreen. If you had any issues before, you can try them and choose which one works best for you. Fake Fullscreen is the new default for Linux-based systems, as it performs best on them.

Default Dege's borderless mode had several issues with the T2 window: a long delay before the border would disappear and the window would fill the screen, and it could sometimes appear underneath the Windows interface. This mode has been additionally improved: the launcher will now apply the necessary styles, z-order, and size before the wrapper acquires the window.

  • The launcher will no longer attempt to apply the NVIDIA profile on Linux, as it doesn’t work and only causes an error popup.

  • Fixed an issue that occurred when swapping displays: if your previously chosen resolution or refresh rate was unsupported by the newly connected display, the launcher could show a blank refresh rate or resolution, and the wrapper could lose access to the configuration file. The launcher will now re-acquire the current desktop specs and save them.
