It's 1970. You are birthing the Arcade industry. Arcade Warlord is inspired by Football Manager, Railroad Tycoon II, Software Inc and a little of Dwarf Fortress/Rimworld. It's a weird mixture I know. This first Devlog is about UI. I struggled a lot of deciding one single style for the UI. This is why I eventually built a Theme Engine. This allows me to easily change the whole style of the game easily while also having the ability to have multiple themes. However, I am not planning to include more than 1 theme right away, in the game build. I might however let players tweak the theme in the settings or might let them add new Themes. I started with a military style UI and now I have moved to a more modern look that however fits perfectly my neon-noir style. I am struggling to find a Monospaced font that is good enough for numbers and dates. I must have tested more than 50 so far. I have actually found one new today - I will reveal it at the next Devlog. Today I finished the initial layout for the Inbox system and you can now view the screenshot (also now at Steam page). Looking at the screenshot, you can spot:
The updated Left Hand menu (some Store screenshots still use the pre-alpha one).
The updated bottom HUD in action.
The new mail inbox icon.
I will need to decide the styling on the number of unread inbox mails at the bottom HUD.
What do you prefer? A classic red notification circle, or something else? Let me know in the comments. I have also setup a Discord channel, currently it has 1 member: that is me.
