Dev Diary #3: Saunas in Aquapark Tycoon

In our third Dev Diary, we’re taking you behind the scenes of Aquapark Tycoon to share an exclusive glimpse into the development of our upcoming water park simulation.
In Aquapark Tycoon, you can design the water park of your dreams: from pools, which we explored in the first Dev Diaries, to thrilling water slides and saunas where your guests can unwind and recharge.
But now, grab your sauna towel, dear water park fans, because things are about to heat up! In today’s developer diary, we’re diving deep into the steamy world of saunas!

Sauna Types at a Glance
When we started developing Aquapark Tycoon, one thing was especially important to us: players should have the freedom to design their water park exactly how they want! You’re in control of every little detail. That means: You can customize the sauna layout, tweak the temperature and humidity, decide on seating and lounging areas, and pick the perfect decoration items like classic sauna buckets, dried herbs, sand timers, or stylish lamps and columns. You can choose the infusions and create your own schedule with different scents. And if you’re feeling extra creative, you can add music and light effects to turn a sauna visit into an unforgettable experience for your guests.
To make sure you get the most authentic options, our devs went on a “sweat tour” across Germany. We visited countless saunas – and, yeah, we took a few deep sniffs – to make sure everything in the game feels just right.
We’d like to introduce the following first four sauna types to you:

Finnish Sauna
This is the classic sauna experience. A powerful stove ensures your guests work up a sweat at temperatures between 70 and 95°C, while the humidity stays at a comfortable 5 to 30%. After the heat, cooling down is essential – perfect for getting the blood circulation going.
But be careful! Crank up the heat too much, and your guests won’t just turn red – they’ll bolt out of the sauna faster than you’d like. So, keep an eye on the intensity rating to make sure the sauna session is relaxing and not a reason to call for help!

  • Temperature: 70 - 95°C
  • Humidity: 5 - 30%

Steam Bath
The name says it all: with humidity levels at a whopping 90 to 100%, thanks to constant steam, the room is filled with a thick mist. The steam is great for your guests, helping to boost metabolism and relax muscles. And the best part? The temperature stays mild, between 45 and 55°C.

  • Temperature: 45 - 55°C
  • Humidity: 90 - 100%

Salt Sauna
In the salt sauna, your guests can enjoy a mini seaside getaway – without ever leaving your park. What a fantastic service! With walls made of salt stone, you infuse the air with a refreshing, salty breeze that’s great for the respiratory system.
With temperatures between 55 and 80°C and humidity levels around 15 to 20%, most visitors find it incredibly soothing.

  • Temperature: 55 - 80°C
  • Humidity: 15 - 20%

Event Sauna
For those who want something a bit more extraordinary, the event sauna is the perfect choice. With temperatures between 50 and 100°C and humidity up to 30%, you can create unforgettable moments. Show-infusions at the event sauna stove, paired with impressive music and light effects, turn every visit into a spectacular experience.

  • Temperature: 50 - 100°C
  • Humidity: 1 - 30%

That’s enough sweating for today! We hope you’ll have just as much fun building and customizing your saunas as we did. By the way: We are currently looking for playtesters. If you're interested in testing Aquapark Tycoon for us, make sure you head right over to our Discord for more info on how to sign up!🐙
