Survivors,

The time has come! After years of hard work, countless late nights, and an unwavering passion for crafting an unforgettable VR experience, The Living Remain is officially leaving Early Access!🎉

This journey began as a dream—just the two of us, husband and wife, pouring everything we had into creating a thrilling action-adventure VR game. We’ve tackled every challenge, from developing immersive mechanics to fine-tuning every detail, all to bring you a game that we’re truly proud of. And now, thanks to your support, feedback, and patience, we’re making that dream a reality.

What’s New?

This major update brings several exciting enhancements and crucial fixes to ensure a smoother, more immersive experience.

Enhancements

  • A switch to OpenXR. This brings a major performance boost for some users. It took a lot of effort, but we wanted to make sure that we exited Early Access with stability and performance in mind.
  • Updated various textures throughout the game. This includes re-authoring some as well as increasing the resolution for more detail.
  • Updated lighting across multiple levels for a more immersive and dynamic atmosphere.
  • Physics optimizations to reduce CPU load and improve overall performance.
  • Added ability to pause the game with the menu button. A small change, but a highly requested one!
  • Improved undead attacks when crawling, making them even more intense.
  • Drastically reduced invisible walls in the dirt lot area, allowing for better movement and exploration.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed issue with bullet trajectory through glass. Bullets now continue in the proper direction.
  • Fixed issue where players could not store large weapons while walking. No more awkward inventory struggles!
  • Fixed undead teleporting out of the container in the first level. They should stay where they belong.
  • Fixed issue where some users were unable to load into the next level. Progression should be smooth now.
  • Fixed issue with subtitles not always working. Now you won’t miss a word.
  • Fixed issue where hands would be shaky for some players. Improved hand stability for better immersion.
  • Fixed issue that could cause players to not progress near the train. No more getting stuck!
  • And many other smaller bugs that we can’t even remember.

Note: Index Users, we are currently working on full support which will be in the next update!

A Heartfelt Thank You

We couldn’t have done this without you—our incredible community. Your feedback, encouragement, and dedication have kept us pushing forward, ensuring that The Living Remain delivers the best experience possible.

This may be the end of Early Access, but it’s far from the end of our journey. We’ll continue supporting the game, listening to your feedback, and refining the experience. For now, we hope you enjoy this update and everything it brings.

Thank you for being part of this adventure. We’ll see you in the fight! 💀🔥
