February Progress Report

Soda Dungeon 2 · published 7 years ago

As we do our best to get Soda Dungeon 2 ready for launch we'll be looking to roll out more frequent updates. It's been about a month since our last announcement, so what's new?

Bugs
First, and probably least exciting: bug fixes. Although the game feels very solid now it's getting harder to add and update features without affecting other code that was written 2-3 years ago. Shout-out to the QA team at Armor Games (Ivan + Tasselfoot) for keeping us in check!

Stables
Last time I mentioned finalizing the stables and pets, which is now complete. Ten new little friends await!

Items
All items are now in the game. By my count we have about 170 total: 78 resources, and 92 pieces of equipment. For comparison, Soda Dungeon 1 launched with about 80 items. This increased to 126 after all of our updates. However, SD1 never had resources, so all of those were equipment.
(we already have a lot more planned for future updates to SD2)

UI/UX
It can be tedious work, but necessary. All menus are functional in the game but we're working to improve the flow and consistency of the most important ones. And if nothing else, we just want them to look pretty. Last week we took a heavy look at the item menus related to the Blacksmith: Buying, Selling, Crafting, and Leveling Up. They've already been cleaned up considerably, and we still have some potential tweaks to make.

Speaking of the Blacksmith, he will actually stock his shop with gear close to the last dungeon level you stopped at. This is added to his stock inventory which is always available. So keep an eye out- you might spot a rare item for sale!

Relics
Ok, most of the relics have been done for a while. But check out this screenshot of them side-by-side in the Relics Menu!

Thanks for following along. More to come next month!

So I’m not here to ruffle any feathers or yank any chains, but I do want to let you know that pox and I have been workshopping a lot of ideas lately. In fact, we even put together a little teaser image: We needed a healthy break after SD2, but it wasn’t long before we started dreaming of effervescent, multicolored glass bottles once more.
