AI Forgiveness + New Damage Model

major update

Saturday Night Racing · published · build 19590062

Hey racers! 🏁I'm back with a major update to Saturday Night Racing, focused on player feedback regarding collisions with the AI competitors. The AI have been completely re-worked in weight, power, and impact forces at all tracks. The general feedback the AI cars were "immovable" has been noted. The AI cars will now absorb impacts from the player to provide a more forgiving and fair racing experience.

This new update also brings totally overhauled engine sounds and a new visual soft-body damage model for the player car. Here’s a breakdown of the full changes for this update:

💡 AI Forgiveness

  • Reduced AI mass at all tracks (bigger shifts on the smaller tracks)

  • Re-balanced AI power outputs at all tracks

  • Adjusted AI collider settings at all tracks

🖼️ Improved sounds

  • New engine sound model for the player car and AI cars

  • New engine sound recordings to better match stock cars of the era

  • Minor changes to audio balancing

🏎️ New visual damage model

  • The player car will now take visual soft body damage based on impacts at all tracks

  • Includes roof, window, and underbody damage

🌆 Bug fixes and other changes

  • Adjusted gamepad settings (An update was pushed earlier this week for Steam Input default gamepad template as well)

  • Fixed a camera clipping glitch when an AI car drove up on the player car

  • Other small misc fixes
