Kingdom TD Playtest Update — August 2, 2026

KingdomTD: Draft Your Demise Playtest · published

This update adds a clearer campaign journey, more distinctive bosses, and a substantial combat-feel pass across the game.

Campaign and progression

  1. Added eight main campaign questlines, one for each biome, with sequential objectives and clearer unlock milestones.
  2. Added new portal-sealing victory scenes at major Grasslands, Sunken Coast, Deep Dungeon, and Snowy Mountains milestones.
  3. Improved campaign quest-log presentation, objective visibility, world labels, dialogue layout, and completion messaging.
  4. Added moving cloud shadows to outdoor battles and the campaign map.
  5. Enlarged and refined Sunken Coast scenery for better readability and visual presence.
  6. Added ambient bat flybys and atmosphere adjustments to the Haunted Village.

Bosses and combat feel

  • Added unique portraits for the tutorial boss and 28 campaign bosses.
  • Added biome-specific portrait frames to boss health displays.
  • Added new tower firing sounds, enemy ability sounds, hero-ability audio, and combat stingers.
  • Added clearer projectile travel, arrow trails, hit bursts, ground impacts, explosions, shockwaves, and camera response for heavy attacks.
  • Reworked Meteor and Cannon impact presentation, including new projectile and explosion artwork.
  • Improved rider attunement feedback with tower outlines, attack flashes, a rider gesture, and brighter firing audio.

Balance and clarity

  • Draft cards now preview the same scaled enemy health and spawn counts used by live combat.
  • Strengthened later-wave enemy health growth to keep the end of a run threatening.
  • Reworked the Vigorous affix to heal a portion of recent damage instead of repeatedly restoring a percentage of maximum health; overlapping healers can no longer multiply the same recovery.
  • Improved health and damage accounting so recorded combat statistics are more reliable.

Interface, audio, and fixes

  • Added the build version to the main menu for easier playtest reporting.
  • Added new title-screen and intro music plus an updated boot splash.
  • Updated the mounted ranger's movement artwork.
  • Fixed Flail tower upgrade visuals and overlapping turret keybinding text.
  • Improved victory-screen focus behavior, tutorial controls, the wave-complete report, and several campaign UI layouts.
