FriedrichAI Update – Video Expansion + Image Understanding

Another meaningful step forward for FriedrichAI.

This update adds new video capabilities and gives Friedrich a much better understanding of visual input.

What’s new
Image-to-Video support added to the Video DLC
Animate a still image into a short video clip
Great for subtle motion, atmosphere, and bringing static visuals to life
Morph / transition support added to the Video DLC
Create a transformation video between two images
Useful for visual transitions, stylized morphs, and experimental effects
Friedrich can now describe images
The base model can now analyze and describe image content
This helps Friedrich better understand what you give it and improves prompt-building for visual workflows
Why this matters

FriedrichAI is continuing to grow beyond a simple offline chat assistant.

It can now:

chat locally
generate media locally
understand images
help guide image/video workflows
expand through optional modules without breaking the base app

That modular structure is a big part of the goal:
the base app stays functional on its own, while optional packs add more advanced features.

A note on the UI

The UI is still intentionally basic for now.

That is on purpose.

Right now, the priority is locking down core functionality, fixing edge cases, and making sure the systems work reliably before doing a heavier UI polish pass. I’d rather improve the foundation first than constantly rebuild the interface around changing features.

Early Access / feedback

This is still an evolving system, and honest feedback helps a lot.

If you run into issues, weird edge cases, or workflows that don’t behave right, please report them. Real-world use is how Friedrich gets better.

Thanks to everyone testing, pushing it, and helping shape where it goes next.
