Three weeks after launch: Vealo has doubled in size

Vealo launched on Steam on August 5. We have not stopped for a single week since - and today we want to show what the app has grown into.

Some numbers

11 updates in 3 weeks: a new one every two days on average
25+ new features and improvements: 2-3 per patch
40+ bugs fixed: 3-4 per patch
4 new widgets and a sound visualizer
all of it in 14 languages
Widgets: from two to six

At launch, the desktop had a clock and a media player. Now they are joined by:

Calendar: five views, from a thin line to a full month
Weather: your city is detected automatically, with a forecast and feels-like temperature
System monitor: CPU, memory, disk, network and battery
Notes: a checklist right on the wallpaper, checkboxes work on the desktop itself
Sound visualizer: bar, wave or ring, reacting to any music
All widgets share five materials and follow your theme. And the new "To all widgets" button dresses the whole desktop in one widget's style with a single click.

The Roulette

A separate tab that rolls a whole new setup at once: wallpaper, theme, effects, widgets, cursor and lighting in one click. Only what you have enabled gets rolled, and a bad roll reverts with one button.

The panel became a file manager

Drag files to Home and along the breadcrumbs, rubber-band selection, big folders copying in the background with the native Windows dialog - the panel no longer freezes even on 80 gigabytes. The image viewer grew into a full one: zoom to the cursor, rotation, copy to clipboard, and any picture becomes your wallpaper in one click.

And parallax

The wallpaper gains depth and follows the cursor. Together with the effects, lightning and ambient sounds, the desktop has truly come alive.

Under the hood

More than forty fixes: rare panel freezes, a video wallpaper memory leak, files disappearing on dual-monitor setups, behaviour after Windows updates and monitor changes, and much more. Updates now apply correctly through Steam on the first try.

Thank you

Half of this list was born from your reviews and emails: moving files to Home was requested by a player from China, label size by a reviewer with an OLED monitor, desktop notes by a first-week review. We read everything. Leave reviews, send ideas to [email protected] - and we will build the next updates together too.
