09/06/2026 Update (New Tutorial Stations, Leaderboard Fixes, Boss Fixes)

Quantum Covenant Playtest · published · build 25160109

Packaging and integrity

  • Shipped content now loads from packed files rather than loose files, with a signed manifest that gates leaderboard posts from a modified install. Invisible in normal play.

Onboarding (CALIBRATION)

  • The drift station now requires drifting through the ring, not just holding a slide nearby.

  • A new MOVEMENT ABILITY station teaches dashing in all four directions, not just forward.

  • The dash station and drift-ring stations had a shared bug that could make them incompletable; fixed.

  • The instruction card carries one clear instruction instead of three counters and one lesson competing for space.

  • The grapple crossbeam lights up so the station's actual objective — the architecture — is visible rather than implied.

Lobby

  • READY UP is impossible to miss for a new pilot; four separate legibility problems fixed.

Leaderboards

  • Co-op runs post one row per team instead of one per pilot with the same total.

  • A guest now sees the squad's GLOBAL placement too, not just the host.

Boss

  • RIM PURGE reaches a pilot pinned high on the wall; the old blast radius fell short by 52 units at that spot.

  • Homing weapons can finally lock the Warden at all — it carried no AI target, so seekers flew straight past it since the boss was added.

  • Five enemies take their paint-booth hull colors. The aerial bomber is 1.5x larger (hitbox included; hull and flight feel unchanged).

Fixes

  • The game could not exit cleanly on some machines: an unbounded GL error drain against a dead render context. Fixed.

  • Two ability keys (at_owner, follow_aim) silently did nothing since 2026-08-30 — authored on the wrong parser's file, with no log or error to notice by.

  • The repair drone and holo decoy's cooldowns start when the deployable expires, not at the cast, matching every other deployable.

  • A weapon with no reticle (grenade launcher) now keeps an orientation pip on screen.

Performance (grass)

  • A tier-1 auto-pick for weak machines: measures 120 clean frames and steps grass quality down automatically. Several defaults changed after measurement: early-Z, an equal-area scatter mesh, lean vertex data, and a 3-segment blade — 6.6ms down to 5.2ms combined.
